Two years have now passed since the release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, an elaborate teaser that has left eager fans gasping for more. To my dismay, Gran Turismo 5 is still pinned for an uninformed release some time in 2010 however, and to ease the pain, Polyphony have conjured up Time Trial Challenge, a free playable demo of sorts designed to give us a fleeting taste of what to expect for the full works.

As the resident racing devotee, I am naturally fixated with even the smallest morsel of what is expected to be the most comprehensive driving experience for the current generation. Read on to find out how it performed after taking it for a thorough spin.

Steam had a great Black Friday sale for gamers, offering up to 80% off of many select titles, but this new sale, which is targeting last minute shoppers, has some of the best deals we’ve seen on Steam to date.

They’re reviving the 24-hour deal practice, which will continue on until January 3rd,  so you can be sure you’ll be reloading your Steam store page well after all the turkey and ham has been digested and you’ve popped the top on that bottle of champagne.

I’ve got some bad news for Capcom fans. Today the company announced that several of its titles have been delayed to “avoid competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce” between January 1 and March 31, 2010.

Specifically Lost Plant 2, Super Street Fighter IV, and Monster Hunter Tri are the titles that have been delayed. Now they are scheduled for release sometime during Capcom’s next fiscal year, which spans April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011. Read more… »

Nintendo’s bloody, Wii MotionPlus-enhanced slasher Zangeki no REGINLEIV has a new minute-plus trailer on the Japanese Nintendo Channel. In it, Japanese jibberish is spoken over scenes of ogre-slaying and Kill Bill blood fountains. Other than that, we still know little about this title.

I’m thinking this is gonna be another Sin & Punishment or Excitebots case, where Nintendo drops the game in the middle of the road, grabs a cup of coffee, and then forgets where it left the damn thing. Doesn’t bother me. It looks like a rip-roaring good time and I’ll check it out regardless.

PSPGo: To Catch A Robber?
By: | December 22nd, 2009

pspgo2

The love hate relationship fans have with the PSPGo isn’t really surprising considering how much controversy has surrounded the machine since its announcement, but the machine has received much love from an owner who goes by the online handle psich0m4n.

According to the gamer, a robber broke into his home and completely cleaned him out, stealing all of his games and consoles, even going so far as to jack the components and camera for his PS3. However, the thief was unaware that the PSP which remained in the gamer’s possession was linked to his PS3, which results in a pretty funny account of game recovery.

Episodic content tends to derive into a hit or miss situation. Either the developer can string a narrative and gameplay together over the course of three, four, or maybe five segments that intertwine to make a enjoyable cohesive unit, or each episode attempts to define itself as a free standing game, unable to adequately connect with one another and becomes a Smörgåsbord of failure. However, when Telltale games is at the helm, the latter has a piss-poor chance, at best, of happening.

Tales of Monkey Island valiantly returns with its’ fifth and final installment, The Rise of the Pirate God; a climax that even Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate™ would find worthy. Read more… »

Dark Void prequel goes 8-bit
By: | December 22nd, 2009

Dark Void Zero

Admittedly, I haven’t been closely following Dark Void, the new Capcom IP due out in January. All I know is that it is coming to the 360, PS3, and PC and involves strapping on a jet pack and zipping around like the Rocketeer.

According to GameSpot, Capcom is also hoping to expand upon the fledgling franchise’s mythos by releasing a digital download prequel in the same month. Curiously, Dark Void Zero will not be arriving on the respective platforms’ download services but on DSiWare, and it’ll look like an NES game.

Seriously.

Last night Sony announced, via PlayStation blog, that a new Eye of Judgment game is heading to the PSP.

Dubbed The Eye of Judgment Legends, the digital collectible card game is slated to arrive sometime this Spring. Like it’s big brother on the PS3, EoJL “combines card trading, magic and adventure.” Read more… »

XmasHeader

Typically during the holiday season, people are scrambling around like busy little ants, trying to buy presents for their family and friends.  If any of these individuals have ended up on your naughty list, it can be difficult to decide what to get them. It’s an unfortunate reality that sometimes you have to buy presents for the people you hate, even if you don’t want to.  Those of you who have big families understand this perfectly.

Well this year, Gamer Limit has decided to help you empty your wallet by providing a list of gifts for those hated gamers in your life.  Givers beware, you should only give these games and gadgets to those who you despise most.  To gift them to someone you actually like would be a cruel act, for these are the worst of the worst the video game industry has to offer in 2009.
