Today publisher D3 announced that a sequel to its hit puzzle/RPG hybrid Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords will arrive on the Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 (via Xbox Live Arcade) spring 2010.

Simply dubbed Puzzle Quest 2, the sequel is being developed by Infinity Interactive, the studio who created the original. D3 promises “an enhanced real-time experience using all-new weapons, spells, and shields that make every decision meaningful…in the deepest puzzle adventure yet.”

While D3 promises new game modes, the core game mechanics will remain the same. Player will be able to choose from one of four player classes, including War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, Assassin. Each class has access to unique spells and abilities to help vanquish foes as players go on their quest. When gamers encounter various bad guys, they will then be tasked with matching three or more of the same colored gem to either deal damage or gain mana, money, or experience. So far D3 has announced four game modes: Story, Instant Action, Tournament, and Multiplayer.

As more details arrive, you can be sure I’ll post them here on Gamer Limit.

Great – there go 30 hours of my life. Loved Puzzle Quest.

  2. I wonder if this will end up coming out on every system known to man, as the first one did.
