Borderlands_E32009_1

Those of you who own Borderlands for the PC, or who read my review, should know that the game launched with a ton of problems.  Luckily, Gearbox has just released patch 1.0.1 which fixes and eliminates some of those issues.  The two you’ll probably care about most are: 1) you can now control the volume of in-game voice chat, and 2) Lilith’s phase strike and melee attacks from phase walk now function properly.

So many features on PS3 user’s wish lists for future firmware upgrades. And on the top of everyone’s list is Facebook, right? Well, of course it is!

[Join Kevin Miller and Chris Carter, as they both review Dragon Age: Origins for the Xbox 360 and PC. Intro by Kevin Miller.]

Morality is never black and white. It’s shades of gray, and difficult decisions that require thorough thought. And in these moments, as a person, you are shaped by those actions and decisions. The results of which you will have to live with for the remainder of your days.

Games have always had difficult times with those shades of gray. Morality in gaming has matured over the years, and it is Dragon Age: Origins that undoubtedly brings this gameplay element to where it needs to be. But is this unique storytelling element enough to live up to all the hype surrounding this latest RPG from Bioware? Can a game five years in development still stay fresh and rewarding amongst the many triple-A titles of 2009?

Call_of_Duty_Modern_Warfare_2_Sales_Explosion_XLarge6

The forums at Giantbomb are buzzing that Gamespot changed their review score for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  Multiple posters state that the 9.0 present isn’t the original score, and that Gamespot had posted an 8.5 first.  None of the forum users have produced a screenshot of the alleged original score, but we decided to contact Chris Watters, the author of the review, for clarification

Not only did Watters respond, but the Sections Editor at Gamespot, Justin Calvert, did as well. Read more… »

WiiWare free demo

Despite having some ridiculously clever gameplay ideas on their service (Lost Winds, anyone?), sales of downloadable Wii games have faltered for a number of reasons.  One is Nintendo’s lackluster online strategy, but that has honestly never been their focus.

Another cause of fail is the fact that WiiWare, unlike the Xbox Marketplace and the PlayStation Store, doesn’t offer free demos of its games, giving consumers a chance to try before they buy.  That is changing today!  Kind of.

peggle-nights-title

Today casual games giant PopCap announced that the Xbox Live Arcade version of Peggle will be receiving some downloadable content.

The DLC that’s arriving is in fact the PC sequel, Peggle Nights. Slated to arrive November 18, Peggle Nights packs sixty levels of peg popping puzzles. The best part is that expansion is only 400 Microsoft Points ($5), a bargain considering the sequel retails for $9.99 on the PC. Read more… »

Now you may not understand whats being said throughout the entire video, but one thing the promotional trailer conveys through six-and-a-half-minutes of sheer awesomeness: Resonance of Fate (formerly and known overseas as End of Eternity) will be an adrenaline fueled, punch-you-in-the-face jRPG experience.

Set in the not-to-distant future, Earth is facing catastrophic crisis; poisonous gases permeate the Earth’s surface and destroys nearly all living organisms, save some of mankind who learn to adapt. Years of peace have gone by despite the apocalyptic event, that is, until the air purifier malfunctions. Published by Sega and developed by tri-Ace (Star Ocean series and Valkyrie Profile), Resonance of Fate looks incredible and boasts a unique combat system that is a staple of tri-Ace developed games. It’s Sunday night and that can only mean one thing – the new series of Top Gear has aired, which mean all is right with my world once more.

Did I also mention that I went to a certain Top Gear Live event? Well, I did and I even managed to gracefully touch posh cars with huge “do not touch” signs on them. Sorry, but this just had to be mentioned for I am still recovering from the excitement of it all and felt the need to inform you all.

Oh I’ve got to write this weekly news roundup thing, haven’t I? Very well then.
