Muzzled!, the third episode in Telltale Games’ Wallace & Gromit adventure series, is a rather pleasant surprise. Although nothing has changed from a fundamental gameplay perspective – this is still a fairly standard mix of examining objects, talking to people, and using items in the right places – it’s a tighter, smarter package than its predecessors.

Thus far, the XBLA ports of the Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures series have awkwardly tossed and turned between good and bad, like a feverish man having a horrible, yet erotic, nightmare, potentially leaving players unable to decide whether to continue on with the series or leave it behind. Muzzled! makes the decision of whether to play it or not somewhat easier, simply by being the best entry in the series thus far.

It seems a clever soul has gained the support of a local MP here in QLD and generated an e-petition in support of an R18+ rating within the QLD Government. I’m sure many of you are thinking, “Another petition? Well, that’s useless”.

Not exactly; E-Petitions that gain significant amounts of support get officially submitted to parliament for discussion, and at the very least, puts the issue in the forefront of the state assembly for a while.

As a result, it may even get some media play, or (hopefully) become a pet project for a committee and encourage support. In any case, it’s another cog in the growing practical support machine to change the outdated and basically ridiculous rating system that has neutered games like Fallout 3Left4Dead 2, and Grand Theft Auto IV to name but a few.

The Xbox Live Indie Games service is full of clones of more popular titles.  “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” so they say.  Sadly, the imitator is rarely as good as the original.

Beat Hazard is, in essence, a Geometry Wars clone.  However, it is one of those rare titles that not only meets the expectations set by its predecessor, but exceeds them.  It is perhaps the single finest Indie Game on the entire service.

Assassin’s Creed was probably one of the most polarizing titles in recent history. Fans praised its engaging narrative, robust free-running mechanics, and extravagant setting. Naysayers taunted its hit-or-miss combat system, and, most notably, its excruciatingly (and required) repetitive mission setup.

Is Assassin’s Creed II doomed to suffer the same fate as its predecessor? Read more… »

Ravensword screen

After the release of the CoD:WaW Zombies app yesterday for the ridiculous price of $9.99, you may wonder if it was the 3D graphics and the first-person gameplay driving up the price.

You’ll soon realize that’s not the case, as Ravensword: the Fallen King was just released today.  It’s an ambitious Elder Scrolls-style sandbox game, and it’s only $6.99.
