The latest update to Warhammer Online, patch 1.3.2, went live on the 30th of October. Previously, players would be limited to a ten day trial before their account would be locked, forcing them to either stop or pay to continue.

Although you are now able to play for an unlimited amount of time, characters are unable to move past tier one progression (level 1 – 10).  Therefore, what other unique updates has the game brought for its remaining fans?

[Despite the fact that Magna Carta 2 is a Korean RPG (KRPG), it plays very much like a JRPG, so I'll be using that term for the entirety of my review.]

The JRPG genre just isn’t what it used to be. Not too long ago, Final Fantasy VII was “cool”, and JRPGs were selling by the truckload. But their success started to wane after console advancements left the era of menu based combat in the dust, and the genre was forced to adapt or face extinction.

Magna Carta 2 is one of those RPGs that took the challenge and includes an updated action-based combat system. But does it succeed in shaking off all the other negative JRPG tropes? Read more… »

DJ Hero logo

Despite Mr. Nick Simberg’s best efforts to persuade you that DJ Hero is the greatest musical innovation since Guitar Hero, it seems that the UK has been less affectionate to its arrival after it failed to enter the top 10 charts.

Instead, DJ Hero debuted dismally at number 20 in the all formats chart in the UK, which is less than encouraging for a new high profile release.

I wonder if its astronomical pricing in Europe had anything to do with it?

I woke up this morning to wonderful news!  Electronic Arts has just released the first teaser trailer for a new American Mcgee Alice game, currently titled Return of Alice.  It’s been nine years since the original American McGee’s Alice was released for the PC, but unfortunately its twisted retelling of the Alice in Wonderland fairy tale never attracted much of an audience.

With this new one being released on consoles, hopefully it will get a lot more attention.  Unfortunately you’ll have to wait till 2011 to get your hands on it.  Until then, you can enjoy this freaky trailer. Read more… »

The GTA series has skyrocketed back into the spotlight once again with the recent release of The Ballad of Gay Tony: an episode pack released exclusively for the Xbox 360. But Rockstar wasn’t done just yet.

Releasing alongside of Gay Tony, GTA: Episodes from Liberty City is a standalone Xbox 360 game, meaning you do not have to own Grand Theft Auto IV to play it. Is the pack worth it? Read on for the official Gamer Limit review. Read more… »

Grand Theft Auto IV is a game about the American Dream. While Niko’s story took him from rags to unfulfilled riches and The Lost and Damned‘s Johnny bore the ruination of his violent brotherhood and lifestyle, The Ballad of Gay Tony explores financial collapse, but does so with a smile and a wink. It’s a game of glorious, ridiculous excessiveness, presented through a series of antidotes against the recession’s effects on the underbelly of Liberty City’s glitz and glamour.

Even when things seem to be collapsing all around you, the clubs are perfect, the drinks are free, the women are all desperate to drag you into the nearest bathroom and the shotguns can take down a friggin’ helicopter in three shots. And it’s fun. Absurdly, gloriously fun. Read more… »

corrupted

Another week, another HoN character. This week, the Corrupted Disciple (aka Razor) finally makes his debut in the Heroes of Newerth universe.

Initial impressions: I got trashed playing CD, although in my defense I’d like to blame my team for feeding our enemies.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

The 2010 Olympic Winter Games, hosted by Vancouver, Canada, have quite a bit to live up to after the non-stop excitement of the Olympic Games in Beijing. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is in the same position, as its predecessor was quite the hit.

With two of the biggest video game icons in Mario and Sonic, the rest of the Nintendo gang hit the slopes in a game that aims to please the “casuals”.  But is this title overshadowed by Wii Sports Resort? Or does it build on top of everything Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games did right?

One of the few advantages Xbox Live currently has over the PlayStation Network is cross-game chat.  You form a party of friends and you can blab to your heart’s content, no matter what game each of you happens to be playing.  That may soon change.

Inside: a reason not to get Modern Warfare 2?

Trine patched to v1.05

Trine Header

Trine is great (as you can see).  But games always have SOME kind of problems, even with thorough beta testing.

Luckily, the prevalence of systems being “connected” allows for some very easy (and required) patching.

The last level of Trine is apparently REALLY hard.  So hard, in fact, that developer Frozenbyte adjusted the difficulty a bit for n00bs.  But wait, there’s more!

The spookiest time of the year has once again been and gone. At sunset on the eve of All Hallows, doorstep-bothering infants thronged into the streets in search of treats in all manner of ghoulish guises. But why stop just yet!? As Gamer Limit’s Alex Yue and Shawn Evans reported this week, our favorite characters and mascots from the eclectic world of gaming are a popular target for some inventive, and often somewhat eccentric, ensembles.

And all of this clever costumery got me thinking that we are in need of a tribute to those of you with the sheer love of, and dedication towards, your favorite games that you feel it’s appropriate to dress up like them.
