It’s an unremarkable update this week for the European Playstation Store, unless you are enticed by NBA 2K10 which is the only available playable demo. There’s the usual raft of DLC including some free goodies for Brutal Legend and LittleBigPlanet to celebrate its first anniversary, but not much else. Still, there’s always Party Time with Winnie The Pooh.

You can view a full lowdown on this week’s content in the usual place.

Prince of Persia Trailer
By: | November 5th, 2009

Finally it’s here.  After months of anticipation, Disney has finally released a trailer for their upcoming film Prince of Persia, and it seems just as exciting and thrilling as the video game.   We all know that video games turned into film have rarely, if ever, been very good, but with these high profile names floating around, it’s hard to believe that this game will fail much like its brethren.

With the leading role played by Jake Gyllenhaal, a stage presence by Ben Kingsley, a Jerry Bruckheimer production and backed by Disney, it’s shaping up to be the first great video game film made.  Let’s hope it lives up to its hype. Read more… »

MW2 Steam Release Date 1

I went to pre-purchase the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 last night on Steam, and was shocked to see the service lists the game’s official release date as November 13, 2009.  This is a full three days later then the world wide release date of November 10.  I have also checked the Steam website and it lists the same delayed date.

We are attempting to contact Infinity Ward about this, but no response has been received yet.  I have to assume this is a mistake, as I imagine it would hurt sales of the PC version on Steam if people had to wait for it to be released.  Continue to check back with Gamer Limit as we wait to find out why the release date has been pushed back. Mass Effect 50% off on Steam!
By: | November 5th, 2009

ME1
For all you PC owners out there who don’t yet own Mass Effect: your time has come.

You can now pick up the 20+ hour epic space opera for the reasonable price of $9.99. I was one of those gamers who was late to the draw and picked it up late, despite all the guff it got due to all it’s flaws, and was absolutely entranced by how engaging the narrative was. Log onto Steam, or just check it out here!

MW2 Launch Trailer

Spending the minute and thirty-two seconds it will take to watch this Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer will change your life forever.  All those reservations you might have had about purchasing the game will fade away as your senses are bombarded with some of the most intense looking gameplay to ever grace a game console.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone can’t be excited about this game.  It’s the sequel to one of the best selling and best reviewed console games of this generation, and there’s still so much that’s not even known about it.  It also has a huge amount of controversy surrounding it right now.  What is there not to love about it?

First off, let me say that this was an extremely difficult review for me to write. Not because of the game itself, but because of the price. You see, when I review a game, I try to determine if it is worth your money. League of Legends is a free online RTS, so, naturally, I recommend that everyone download it and try it for yourself.

That being said, League of Legends is a great, free alternative to WarCraft III‘s Defense of the Ancients (DotA) modification.

Today, Blizzard expanded their online WoW Shop to include purchasable pets, putting up the “Pandaren Monk Charity Pet”, and “Lil’ K.T., the Littlest Lich”.

Both pets go for a small sum of $10. Will you be getting one?

Wallace and Gromit banner

Maybe it’s for Movember.  Maybe it’s because Telltale Games likes giving away free games (you remember this one?).  Maybe it’s because it’s Wallace & Gromit’s 20-year anniversary.

The “why” doesn’t matter.  All you need to know is: FREE GAME!

This week, Telltale Games is offering the third episode of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, “Muzzled!” for the low price of free.  Details after the jump.

Despite its controversy, the Christian based PC game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, has reported that sales are exceeding expectations in a Texas Wal-Mart test market.  In the game, you’re objective is to convert non-believers and people of other faiths to Christianity or else suffer the fate of the world.

Unsurprisingly, the appeal of this game has sparked boycott groups, including some Christian groups, to urge Wal-Mart to put down the controller (not sell the game).  Now, I wonder why? Read more… »

It feels like Darksiders has been in development for an extraordinarily long period of time.  If I didn’t know better I would think it was a Blizzard game, but alas it is not.  It is however looking more and more incredible every single time I see a new trailer for it.

Take this latest trailer for example that just got released today.  I don’t know how you can watch this and not be even the slightest bit interested in this game.  You get to play as one of the four Horsemen of the apocalypse as you take on both angels and demons in a fight to save our world.  I’m telling you now, this is going to be the sleeper hit of 2010. Gamer Limit Impressions: iDEF
By: | November 4th, 2009

iDEF

James Pinnell, Colin Robinson, and I recently returned from the International Digital Entertainment Festival (iDEF) 2009, where we were promised a feast of gaming, electronics, and exclusives.

Dubbed as one of the largest gaming expos in the southern hemisphere, I felt myself wanting far more than the meager rations that were on offer. Certainly there were a few unreleased titles worthy of a trip home to change my pants, but if iDEF is all that Australia can muster in way of an international gaming exhibition, I have to wonder at the current state of our profession.
