Recently, on Valve’s L4D2 forums there has been a small uproar over the last 48 hours, as Steam gamers realized that their hard earned Left 4 Dead 2 achievements have been vanishing.
Could this be the work of a stat stealing zombie, or just glitchy code?
Steam Community member Wall-nut posted the following
“Both of the past two nights, my achievements and all of my stats have been reset. Many, many other people have experienced this.”
At least no one cares about achievements? Right?

That headline mislead me to believe that Valve was removing the achievements…..WHEW!
Hasn’t happened to me yet but I don’t think I’d care if it did right now. I haven’t been playing to get achievements specifically but I’d probably rage if I [had and] lost the beat all campaigns on expert or beat a campaign on expert with realism mode achievements.
I lost all of mine, but I’m playing through the campaigns again so I don’t really care.
That sucks for everyone who have gotten an early jump on the game. Luckily I haven’t picked up my copy yet, but I plan to soon.
Huh, I just lost some of mine. Only the scavenger mode ones though. Kind of annoying.
Yeah, I just realized I lost some of mine as well. Not a big deal, since achievements aren’t a huge part of the game, nonetheless, it kind of sucks losing the harder ones.
I had 45/50 achievements in l4d2, been playing since 1:30am of release, now they are all gone…. i hate steam.
I took the day off work (Tuesday 17th) to stay home and play L4D2 all the way through with a few friends. We played all day from start to finish and gained most of the achievements possible. I want to say we didn’t play JUST for achievements.
I logged in this weekend to play more and all of the achievements were gone. Every last one of them. The game play on L4D2 feels different from L4D so much so that it’s not nearly as fun to go through. The problem with that is when you struggle through all the episodes, especially that dang bridge, and you are stripped of your hard earned achievements it’s a kick in the face. I don’t want to have to replay all the levels because it’s not nearly as fun as the first game. It’s frustrating. It may grow on me though over time.
I played more this past Sunday so hopefully they are still there. Still what a giant pain. When you’re sitting there starring at the blank achievement screen the first thing you want to do is call someone at Steam to ask why. That is when you realize that contacting them is like trying to find the wizard of oz. It just isn’t going to happen in reality. So I resorted to using Twitter to vent. They could at least offer us first day achievement losers a discount or at least an apology.

Its bullshit now I keep getting a DEP error and it suggests that I allow steam to run without DEP as an exception are they fucking crazy? I want my money back fuck steam if they cant fix it then at least admit it!
