Today Squre Enix announced that the sequel to the 2006 action adventure title Just Cause, plainly titled Just Cause 2, will arrive on March 23 on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

For those of you who don’t know, Just Cause 2 is a single-player sandbox action title where gamers take on the role of CIA black ops agent Rico Rodriguez. Rodriguez comes equipped with a variety of guns and gadgets including: a grappling hook, a parachute, various rocket launchers and small arms.  While the first game had you exploring a fictional Caribbean island, Just Cause 2 will take place on the fictional tropical island of Panau in Southeast Asia. Gamers will be tasked with overthrowing the evil dictator Baby Panay.

Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix London Studios, stated: “Just Cause 2 offers the freedom to explore and tackle the world in any way you choose. The grapple and the parachute mechanic will change the way you play open-world games, allowing players to be in the air in seconds, tackling missions from above and using the aerial advantage. If you prefer to stay on solid ground, the choices offered by the grapple are limited only by your imagination.”

  1. The first game was a really average affair, so I hope the sequel is a marked improvement.

  2. Hey, it happened to Assassin’s Creed 2… You never know

  3. I remember in the first one jumping from a moving car and having the character glitchfully soar to a plane at least two miles away and hijack it.

  4. The original game fell completely off my radar, but after seeing this sequel at E3, I have to admit it looks pretty bad ass!
