Yes, the PS3 browser is unnusually slow for most websites. Not only rendering them, but downloading them too. On my laptop or PC next to the PS3, it's probably a few seconds longer per page load.

Apparently there are alot of complaints about how slowly facebook runs on the PS3's browser, people have problems looking at pictures and what not. That is atleast the largest sigh of relief coming from the PS3 community that I have noticed since the pictures surfaced.

Microsoft need more services since more diverse features are being added to the PS3 network too. I don't own a PS3 so please, correct me if I am wrong, you can use the internet, right?

So why would you need this application integrated, when you could just as easily go to the site through your console?

I suppose convenience is an element. :)

This could definitely hurt the impact of Microsoft's new XMB update. On the other hand, I don't feel like most of my friends really care about Facebook integration on any console. Either way, if it's true it's nice to see that Sony is attempting to keep pace with Microsoft.
