For some reason 20 years seems too long to me. Just look how far we have come in the past 10 years. Technology moves extremely fast these days, and I think we might all be surprised how quickly digital distribution catches on.

Like it was mentioned perviously, I will always rather have the game I spend 50-60 bucks on sit on my shelf when not in use rather than have it just stored in my harddrive. 20 years from now if digital distribution takes over but you still have the option of driving to the store and buying a physical copy. Lets just say my car will still have a ton of miles on it just from video game runs.

I have to agree with you. There's nothing quite like marvelling at your huge collection of games from the past decade or more. Digital distro is great for speed, efficiency, and the environment. But I'm not so sure that they wouldn't be able to simply edit/censor my product after I had downloaded it. Especially living in a backwards country, when it comes to video games, like Australia.

I'm actually not totally into digital distribution at the moment and would probably have to wait a few years before I'd know whether my opinions had changed much. There's something weird, almost obsessive-compulsive about being able to collect games and have them sit on a shelf that feels a lot better to me than having a game stored on a hard drive. If I had the option I'd probably buy Megaman 9 and Braid in disc form too.
