Gamer Limit Banner

Epic Mickey Banner

Game Informer subscribers will get a terrific surprise in their mailbox in a few days: the cover story is on the much-rumored steampunk Disney game, Epic Mickey.

You may remember some of the leaked concept art, but now it’s real, it’s true, and it looks AWESOME.

The project is being headed up by Deus Ex creator Warren Spector and developed by Junction Point Studios (this will be their first game).  The Game Informer-exclusive reveal will go hand-in-hand with an October filled with gradually revealed content, videos, artwork, and other goodies at GI‘s Epic Mickey site.  Keep an eye on it through the coming days.

No word yet on the gameplay, genre, or anything except the art style, really.  It’s a Wii-exclusive where you apparently “paint through levels” (that would explain Mickey’s paintbrush), but the rest is up in the air until the issue hits gamers’ doorsteps.

Sidenote to Disney: if the title Epic Mickey doesn’t pan out, you can always call it Steampunk Willie.

  1. They really oughtta work on the name, though. Only in video games can you get away with naming something “Epic Mickey.” It reminds me of the NES title generator I found a few days ago:

  2. LOL I got “Hidden Experience Challenge.” That’s just great.

  3. I declare the use of the pun “Steampunk Willie” JOURNALISM GOLD :)

  4. Yea, Steampunk Willie was absolutely amazing.

  5. Haha Nick, I’ve gotten some of the most hilarious game names with that thing:

    “Death Land IX: Underground”
    “Colonial Death Dudes: Reloaded”
    “Cybernetic Cyborg Gamma Cop”

  6. If they actually named it Steampunk Willie I’d buy 100 copies. Which is 90 more than I’m planning on getting.

  7. I have to agree with everyone else here. “Steampunk Willie” is genius Nick!

I haven’t seen a single in-game image from this game, and yet for some reason I am extremely excited about it. I can’t wait to find out more in the coming weeks!
