Around the inter-web, we see videos and hear stories of people throwing their Wii Motes at their TV screens due to “Slippery Palm Syndrome” (not an actual disease).  Well, Sony Australia has taken the concept much further and has used a modern day slingshot to catapult a PS3 into a Sony Bravia.

I’m no psychologist, but I like to categorize this as a classic case of “Fashionable Excessive Behavior.”  While the video will have you sitting there in awe, at the same time you’ll also be thinking in disbelief.

I’m not exactly sure what the scientific purpose is, and I’m sure there are hundreds of other options to go about effective advertising, but nonetheless this is pretty damn cool.   Hit the jump to get your eyes splattered

Seriously though, I have so many qualms with this.  If you want to chuck PS3s at a TV, you don’t have to build a machine to do it.  You can pay me half the price of what you spent on building that contraption, and I’ll happily do it until I can’t fling PS3s any longer.

Next, you don’t have to destroy perfectly good hardware to get your name out there; you’re the McDonalds of technology!  Finally, I hate you guys. You just made me cry a bit.

  1. I don’t really know what to say except Curtis, I like your style! If you got paid to fling PS3s at TVs as well, that would be awesome.

  2. Best ad I’ve seen in ages. Love it. :)

  3. Let me tell you what works with this add. It’s something that you see and then walk away from and still remember later on. That is EXACTLY the kind of marketing campaign that Sony needs right now. Why do you think everyone always thinks Geico when you mention car insurance. It’s because of their freaky marketing campaign that causes you to pay attention. The same kind of strategy can work for Sony as well.

I just want to see what they decide to throw the PS3 Slim at next ….

  4. Seriously, what the hell is going on?
