Today Runic Games released a new developer diary for its upcoming action RPG Torchlight.

For those of you who don’t know, Torchlight is a game much in the vein of Diablo. In fact, the game is being developed by Blizzard North co-founders Max and Eric Schaefer and the music is being handled by Diablo composer Matt Uelmen.

Torchlight features procedurally-generated dungeons, tons of monsters and loot, the ability to have pets, and three distinctly different character classes. The game will be released with a set of extensive modding tools, allowing gamers to create their own worlds.

Slated to arrive on October 27 via digital distribution, Torchlight should help fill the gap until Diablo III hits, especially since it’s only $20.
