residentevil5alternativeedition vote

Ever since Resident Evil 5‘s “Alternative Edition” was announced, gamers have been debating whether or not the content should be released as DLC. Today Capcom opened a poll allowing gamers to vote on whether the Alternative Edition should arrive in North America via DLC or on a completely new game disc.

Capcom’s Chris Kramer stated “[The physical re-release] makes absolutely perfect sense for the Japanese gaming market, where the uptake of digital content is a bit behind the western markets.”

Read on to find out how you can voice your opinion.

Kramer went on to say, “However, based on the success of the RE5 ‘Versus’ downloadable content, as well as digital-only titles like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Marvel VS Capcom 2, we know that the demand for DLC in the west is huge…We’re gonna let the poll run for a few weeks, then present the team with the results and our recommendations.”

Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition comes with a few major additions, namely a new mission and PS3 motion controller support. According to Capcom, the new content is also coming to the Xbox 360, however details are sparse.

For those of you who are interested, you can vote here.

  1. I’ll take DLC.

    The only reason? Price.

If they put it out as DLC, there’s no way they could justify more than $20 for it.

If it was a disc, I’d have to rebuy the full game again just for the content.

  2. I think they will price it out as an entirely separate title whether it is digital or not. Look at how the PSP has stirred things up pricing their digital downloads at no cheaper price than that of the physical media.

This will be a $40-50 title whether digital or physical in my opinion.

Wow, Jills got a hell of a rack now….

  4. I’m hoping for DLC, but I bet in the end it will be a stand alone product.
