Well folks, it seems like we’ve gotten our hands on 10 PSN Shatter codes, and we’re making it relatively easy to win them! All you have to do is comment below what your favorite shooter is: it doesn’t even have to be a shoot ‘em up, it could even be a full blown action game like Uncharted 2! Gamer Limit staff will randomly choose 10 entries: so have at it!

The only catch is these codes expire on October 21st (Midnight, American): so we’re only opening the contest for 24 hours, and after that, we’ll get those codes out to you as soon as possible so you can redeem them! Read more… »

We like to think that one of the pluses of having such a flexible, global team here at GL is that we’re able to be everywhere at once.

While most of the insane breaks and major developments reserve themselves for E3, GDC and TGS, it’s easy to forget that there are a couple of gaming exhibitions occuring in other regional centres throughout this big bad world we inhabit.

Two of the larger upcoming events landing at the end of October- eGames Expo (Melbourne, Australia) and Eurogamer Expo (London, United Kingdom) promise to provide if not a ton of surprises, but at the very least a couple of juicy tidbits, some face-to-face hands on with upcoming releases and maybe a scoop or two.

What else do they have in common? Gamer Limit will be at both!

Gamer Limit Review: Machinarium
By: | October 20th, 2009

Machinarium

In this cluttered, often overbearing world of video games, it is sometimes hard to imagine how anything unique and charming could be borne out of a medium that is sustained by sequels and clones.

Since its announcement, Machinarium has seen a host of Samorost faithfuls cling to every new press release or screenshot, and with good reason. Amanita Design has given us a diamond amongst a wealth of petty gems – even if it is a small one.

demonssouls

It is honestly hard to say which is more frustrating: Demon’s Souls’ difficulty, or the availability of the game on store shelves.

Demon’s Souls, a game being praised by many, including Gamer Limit, has proven to be nothing less than a sleeper hit. Atlus, surprised by the increasing demand, will be taking action by shipping out more copies.

However, with every good piece of news, comes the bad. Read on for more details.

xbox-360-rrod

The Xbox 360 has been the source of some controversy since its release. Microsoft used their funds as a house-hold name in operating systems, to make sure they can compete in the games console market, much to the dismay of many.

With many exclusive titles, new innovations on the way, and the infamous ‘red ring of death’ (RROD),  join me as I look at what has happened with their journey inside the industry and what the future holds.

Halo 3: ODST tops the charts

After a short delay, the NPD Group has finally released the software and hardware sales data for the month of September. With a 1% increase over last year’s sales, the month of September was certainly an impressive sales month for both Halo 3: ODST and the Playstation 3 console.

Despite the fact many feel Halo 3: ODST felt more like an expansion, Halo fans proved, once again, just how important the Halo series is to the Xbox 360.

Hit the jump for the full breakdown of September’s NPD numbers.

Band Hero

If you heaved at the announcement of Lego Rock Band’s child friendly tracklisting last week, then be prepared to be further repulsed by the reveal of Band Hero’s teenage twaddle.

The full sugar coated soundtrack can be found after the jump, along with a listing of importable Guitar Hero songs which you predictably have to pay for. Band Hero is set to captivate your younger sister on November 3rd.

In Japan, the “Tales of…” series is tremendously popular and beloved by all. While its garnered a well-deserved respect from western audiences, it isn’t the RPG powerhouse here in the US as it is over in Asia. With the release of Tales of Vesperia: The First strike, an animated theatrical release that serves as a prequel to Tales of Vesperia, came the inevitable question of producing a sequel to the Xbox 360 and PS3 hit. But it wasn’t fans who did the asking.

http://gamerlimit.com/files/2009/10/mushroom-wars-main.jpg

There are certain types of games that strut with a swagger, backing every step up with substance, variety and finesse. Then there are those ‘other’ games that march, chins held up high, but lack the confidence to back up their gaudy walk. They’re called one-trick, all hype, no show ponies.

Mushroom Wars, a cartoony real-time strategy (RTS) title released on the PlayStation Network (PSN), walks a flashy line. While it ostensibly is a game based on strategy, there’s something about Mushroom Wars that makes it more brawn than brains. It’s not spectacular, but that’s not the question. The question is that for the $9.99 price it’s pitching, does it offer enough of a stride? Read more… »
