A new trailer for BioShock 2′s “Capture the Sister” mode has been released.  Judging from the trailer, it looks like a standard game of Smear the Queer just with plasmids, Big Daddies, weapons and splicers.  Now that sounds like my kind of game.

In the mode, you’re objective is to capture the Little Sister and try your hardest to get her safely to the escape point.  Aside from ducking and weaving, it seems as though you’re only form of defence are your plasmids.

On a side note, does anyone else find it kind of eerie that you’re objective is to kidnap a little girl? Read more… »

The state of balance between classes in World of Warcraft is something I have always pondered on. Finding constructive and concise arguments, with suggestions on improving its state, are an extreme rarity.

Class power has a huge effect on the realm they play in. Many people create alternate characters, seeking something different, and in my experience this is usually based on the easiest to play, or the best damage per second (DPS).

After last week’s glaring omission, the playable demos for Ratchet and Clank: A Crank in Time is finally available to patient Europeans, featuring last week’s Crank demo previously available for America, along with an all new demo featuring, yes you guessed it, Ratchet.

Elsewhere, Halloween is on the horizon which is reflected by some of the content on offer, including DLC for LittleBigPlanet and Pain, along with some scary treats for Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5. There’s even some DLC for the newly released DJ Hero, as if these weekly store updates weren’t already overrun with overpriced tracks for music games.

Hit that jump for a full rundown on this week’s update.

Elven Legacy: Ranger, published by Paradox Interactive and developed by 1C Company, is the first of three expansions to the self-titled turn-based strategy game Elven Legacy.  With the addition of new units, new spells and abilities, a new storyline, and three new heroes, the expansion adds significant improvements while maintaining much of the splendor of its precursor.

In addition to the new features, Elven Legacy: Ranger tones down the difficulty a bit, opening its appeal to a larger audience.  While there are evident flaws to its presentation, the overall experience is positive, and will begin to grow on you as you delve deeper into the game.  As a result, many will see this as an effective boost to the up-and-coming series. Morgan Webb: “This is the only game out there [Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time] for people who like action platformers. I guess there’s Mario Galaxy, but it feels like it’s aimed so much for kids.”

There’s not much I can say to that, so just enjoy the header I found on Google Images, and hit the jump for the awful clip, containing one of the worst quotes of all time. Read more… »

Fear

I am the “who” when you call, “Who’s there?” I am the wind blowing through your hair. I am the shadow on the moon at night, filling your dreams to the brim with fright.

That’s right, this is Gamer Limit, and this is Halloween. And yes, I did just steal lyrics from The Nightmare Before Christmas, but if you don’t tell anyone, I won’t.

In celebration of all things Goth Christmas-related, we bring you an examination of scary games, what goes into bringing the fear factor, and which games make you feel like you were watching an episode of Fear Factor. Read more… »

Today Sony announced that a demo for the highly anticipated mythological melee God of War 3 will be included on the Blu-ray disc of District 9, which hits stores December 29. Also included on the disc is an unlockable “exclusive making of featurette.”

If two months is too long of a wait, you can always buy the God of War Collection, which hits November 17, and also packs a God of War 3 demo.

Do you think that this type of cross media promotion is an effective way to get people to buy a game, or movie for that matter?  Read on to find out my opinion. Read more… »

As of yesterday, Majesco snatched up the publishing rights to A Different Game’s (actual developing company name) Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal.  You’re probably sitting at your computer thinking to yourself, “What’s with all this Hulabaloo?”

Normally, I’d probably skim through this press release going on about my day without ever thinking about what I’ve just read.  On the other hand, this game really caught my eye.  In respect to Halloween, maybe Ghostwire is finding a new way to scare the bejesus out of people? Read more… »

Tainted by lies and deception, Borderlands is on the brink of joining a league of rough starts.  Since its cross platform release (PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) there have been reports that the game has failed to record a handful of players’ stats and gear online.

And although this has only hit a select few of unlucky individuals for reasons unknown, it is something that has been reported on each of its three platforms.  Well, the people have spoken, but have the Gods answered? Read more… »
