Today online retail giant Amazon.com launched a new PlayStation Network store allowing gamers to buy downloadable content for their PS3 and PSPs.

Amazon’s PSN store includes numerous full games and downloadable content, however not all items from the actual PlayStation Store are there. Rock Band tracks, for example, are not available in Amazon’s store. Read more… »

NFS Shift

There’s no denying that, at 15 years of age, Need for Speed is becoming elderly. In its day, it was an early pioneer of racing games to feature licensed cars, and arguably one of the best, but in recent years we have seen the franchise decline into a cringe worthy identity crisis.

Underground felt like an inane attempt to appeal to those who thought The Fast and Furious was a crowning cinematic achievement, and ever since then, it has consistently failed to recover from this slithering slump. Last year’s Undercover veered dangerously close to terminating the series for good, so does Shift have the horsepower to jump start this age old franchise or is it about time it settled down for retirement?

Welcome to “What Are YOU Playing?”, a new community outreach program by Gamer Limit, where we encourage everyone from staff to passer-by to tell us not only what you’ve been playing the past week, but what you plan on playing in the week to come.

To kick off this episode, I feel like I’m the only person on Earth who is avidly enjoying Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, which is actually a really solid action RPG.  The Kingdom Hearts series in general gets a pretty bad rap for being convoluted, but I just respond by staring at the nay-sayers blankly, and saying “but it has Beast in it!”

And seriously, how can you argue with that? Is there another recent game you’ve enjoyed quietly (or loudly, for that matter)? Let us know below!

Remember Oddworld Inhabitants star Abe, the friendly neighborhood Mudokon?  He’s back!

Just announced, the original PlayStation classics Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus are being ported to the PlayStation Network on October 21,  2009.  That’s my 23rd birthday!  But that’s probably just a coincidence.

Well apparently, John Kennedy thinks so, lodging a class-action lawsuit against Sony for their 3.0 firmware update. Accusing Sony of breaching implied warranty and performing an act of negligence, he argues that thousands of PS3 owners have had their PS3′s bricked after the update.

jack-the-ripper

That’s right folks, The EA developer Visceral Games is set to make a game based on the real British serial killer; Jack the Ripper. This was stated by an EA spokeswoman alongside the announcement that both upcoming titles, Dante’s Inferno and Dead Space: Extraction will be made without Glen Schofield and Michael Condry.

As an Englishman, I have no doubt that the idea of a game about Jack the Ripper will cause quite a stir. Read on for some background information about the man behind the concept.

In conjunction with a new episode which resumes the 13th series, Microsoft are to release South Park: Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! tomorrow on October 7th.

The budget XBLA title features all of the iconic central characters and the usual anarchy you have come to expect from the foul mouthed show, through strategic tower defense gameplay as the title may suggest. The game will cost 800 Microsoft points, but you can taste the game yourself from the video posted above.

As a fan of the series, it’s reassuring to see a new game adaptation considering we haven’t had one in 10 years. South Park Rally anyone?

residentevil5alternativeedition vote

Ever since Resident Evil 5‘s “Alternative Edition” was announced, gamers have been debating whether or not the content should be released as DLC. Today Capcom opened a poll allowing gamers to vote on whether the Alternative Edition should arrive in North America via DLC or on a completely new game disc.

Capcom’s Chris Kramer stated “[The physical re-release] makes absolutely perfect sense for the Japanese gaming market, where the uptake of digital content is a bit behind the western markets.”

Last night Microsoft announced the new cast of games that will be re-branded as Xbox 360 Platinum Hits.

Not so long ago, you may remember the outstanding promotional video for the new Ferrari which did a very good job of getting me excited for the eventual release of Gran Turismo 5. But now it’s Toyota’s turn, as GT5‘s latest teaser video stars the newly unveiled FT-86 concept car.

It doesn’t quite match the cinematography of the aforementioned Ferrari video, but it does reveal a couple of new fine details about the final product. For instance, did you notice that in some shots the driver’s face can be seen without a racing helmet?

Also, unlike the previous video, we get a sample of the game’s audio – I hope the engine and tyre screech sounds that were featured here turn out to be in the final game as they are far superior to that of Prologue’s.

Here it is, the really really long set list for DJ Hero!

Featuring 93 mixes, to be exact, with a total of 100 individual songs, this one is possibly the most insane rhythm assortment yet! This is a pretty wild set list. Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction” still reminds me of that Wendy’s commercial.
