DRGAGE

CG cut scenes always have had a special place in my heart. For years they acted as reward for finishing levels or defeating seemingly impossible bosses. Dragon Age: Origins, which is set to release early November, has shown us all how pre-rendered cutscenes/trailers should be handled in the ‘next gen’.

Hit the break for the trailer, and marvel all its bloody and brutal glory.

Let’s face it. The ending that Bethesda had originally intended for Fallout 3 was incredibly anticlimactic. You’re left with a decision, and you get a cutscene based upon it and then its over.

Broken Steel makes a valiant attempt at rectify this problem, allowing you to play beyond the original intended ending of the game. Is it worth it? Let’s figure that out. Oh, and by the way:

GameStop is having a midnight launch event tonight for those of you who absolutely can’t wait until tomorrow to begin playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or Brutal Legend.  Over 800 stores nation wide are participating in the event and a complete list of all those can be found here.  Doors open at 10PM for people to begin lining up, but the games themselves don’t actually go on sale until midnight.

For those of you who can wait, I recommend bypassing GameStop and heading over to Toys R’ Us tomorrow for their “buy 2 get 1 free” deal.  This way you can buy both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend, and then get a third game of your choice for free.  I personally think waiting 12 hours is worth a free game, don’t you?

So how many of you can’t wait and plan on attending the midnight launch tonight? Read more… »
