welcometothepitt[Join Steve Kelso and Chris Carter, as they both review Fallout 3's The Pitt DLC pack for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Kelso's review was written months ago when the DLC dropped on the 360, and Chris Carter's is brand new. Intro by Steve Kelso.]

Part of what makes Fallout 3 such a unique title is the world in which it sits. Washington D.C. is a reality, where the steampunk science fiction is the product of Bethesda Game Studio’s imagination.

Although The Pitt is much smaller in scale than The Capital Wasteland, it does not make it any less enjoyable to explore. Forget the negative hype that surrounded the launch of The Pitt; the patch has been applied, and the review is in.

Sony Bluetooth Headset

It appears that a Naughty Dog employee might have let slip that the next PS3 firmware update will contain the long awaited cross-game voice chat functionality.  This information comes from a Playstation.com forum post in which a user with a “Naughty Dog Dev” stamp has been quoted saying “the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat.”

Of all the features that Sony has yet to implement on the PS3, this is probably the most requested.  The fact they haven’t added it to the system has been a point of contention amongst many PS3 and Xbox 360 fanboys.  I myself think this is the one hurdle the Playstation Network has left to leap before it can be considered on par with Xbox Live.

Do you think the PS3 needs cross-game voice chat?

Today developer/publisher KOEI announced that a videogame rendition of the legendary manga Fist of the North Star is currently in the works for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with FotNS, the story is set in a post-apocalyptic vision of Earth. Almost all of the Earth’s resources have been depleted and society has broken down into bands of gangs struggling to survive.

It’s no surprise that after a lukewarm PSPgo reception, genius Hideo Kojima had to say something positive about Sony’s handheld device to control the damage. This time,  Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is taking the spotlight. While we do know that Kojima has made a substantial effort in involving himself with Peace Walker, apparently there’s this one unknown feature that’ll blow our minds to smithereens.

Jump inside to get the scoop on the latest and greatest from the world of nano-pumped vampires and white-haired, female-looking half ninja robots.

Obscure

Obscure: The Aftermath, originally on Playstation 2, has been ported from system to system, and now, the series has found it’s home on the PSP handheld.

Everything you may know and love from the original has been brought into this portable installment: great environments that help shape the tension, sweet co-op action, challenging puzzles, and the occasional scare. But where in the survival horror timeline does this game fall? Can it be best identified as innovative or outdated? Read more… »

Best-Buy-People

The gaming world has been given a rare gift this week with Toys ‘R’ Us launching a “Buy 2 Get 1 free” deal on their entire video game selection.  With both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend releasing on Tuesday, it doesn’t take a genius to decide where to go to buy these games.  Unfortunately, toy stores nation wide have been selling out of both titles extremely fast, leaving gamers to wallow in misery.

Have no fear, because reports are coming in that Best Buy stores all across the country are honoring the Toys ‘R’ Us deal.  Considering they have a much larger selection of games, and they stock more of each, Best Buy is definitely the best place to go to take advantage of this incredible deal.  Make sure you call your local store first though, as it’s not 100% guaranteed that every one is matching this offer.  Read more… »

ZombiePizza
[Every Wednesday Gamer Limit scours the underbelly of the internet to bring you the finest releases from the indie scene, check back each week to see what we recommend. Feel free to check out our full schedule right here!]

The most successful apps on the iTunes store are the ones which revolve around simple, easy to manage mechanics without any intrusive on screen joysticks or broken tilt controls. Appy Entertainment’s Zombie Pizza doesn’t possess any of these problems, but it is let down by its lack of genuine gameplay.

In years prior, I’ve become way too familiar with the rush and stress of working in a pizza shop on a busy Friday night or first Monday of the school holidays.  Zombie Pizza’s clever little back story is the world has been taken over by zombies, and it’s your job to stay alive and work at ‘Zombonies Pizza’ to feed an army of the living dead their favorite food… pizzas? Developed and published by Arcen Games, AI War: Command Fleet is a galactic strategy game that pits a Starfleet Commander (You) against a well trained opposition (AI). Although the tongue in cheek title could have been a bit more creative, the game is well done for a development company in its early stages.

While the casual gamer will find the sheer volume of this game very intimidating, AIW:CF will undoubtedly have a strong draw to the RTS enthusiast.  Because of its support for a vast number of units, and exploration of a seemingly endless planetary system, it will leave gamers playing the same map for hours on end.
