PS3-Slim

Sony has officially announced they will be launching a new sku of the PS3 Slim with a 250Gb HDD on November 3rd for $350.  So far the new system will only be released in North America, but there’s a good chance other regions will eventually get it as well.

The boost in hard drive space is the only difference between this new version and the current 120Gb Slim, so don’t expect any other additional features.  This is simply another alternative for people who think 120Gb isn’t enough.

The question is, will anyone want to spend the extra money for the larger hard drive space? Read more… »

Welcome to “What Are YOU Playing?”, a new community outreach program by Gamer Limit, where we encourage everyone from staff to passer-by to tell us not only what you’ve been playing the past week, but what you plan on playing in the week to come.

Yes folks, it’s true: Nolan North does look like his most popular character! And speaking of Uncharted 2, I haven’t bought it yet, so feel free to shame me into doing so in the comments below. I’ve been spending too much time playing Demon’s Souls (as said on the podcast) to really give it as much attention as it deserves, and additionally, I have Way of the Samurai 3 in transit as we speak.

Is there another recent game you’ve enjoyed other than Uncharted? Is Brutal Legend everything you wanted and more? Feel free to let the world know how amazing they are below.

Fallout 3′s Capital Wasteland is without a doubt one of the largest areas to explore inside of a video game to date. Many fans are absolutely clueless about half of the known locations of the map, much less the little secrets which can be found in some random nook or cranny.

If you’ve come across the alien crash site, you have done a fair bit of exploring. Of course who would have ever thought we’d visit the ominous mothership from whence it came?  The deafening cries of alien probes await you upon Mothership Zeta.

Grand Theft Auto IV’s PS3 and Xbox 360 releases are, according to Gamerankings, the first and third best reviewed games of this console generation (with Super Mario Galaxy snuggled between their awkward percentage divide). The series has consistently rated well since the release of GTA III, which  is often cited as one of the most successful transitions into 3-D any game franchise has ever made. GTA IV’s leap wasn’t as significant, but it was, the reviews argued, just as impressive.

And yet, as time went on, dissent towards the game started to pop up on blogs, forums and player reviews. At first, complaints at the in-game phone, the lack of sky-diving and other such distractions introduced in previous entries to the series and cries of ‘this is boring!’ seemed to be made in defiance, as though some players simply wanted to rebel against the magnitude of the review scores. As always, accusations were made that reviewers were being paid off, and the anti-GTA IV sentiments spread.

valhalla-knights-eldar-saga

There was once a little game for the Dreamcast called Phantasy Star Online (PSO).  It was a popular title that launched the RPG series into the wide, recently booming, world of the internet.  Players could join up in thousands of beam saber waving contests around the world, from the comfort of their couch, or they could quest with NPCs through a single player campaign. Ah, the glory days.

Fast forward to today.  Every console, even the portable ones, have the capability to connect to the magical internet, and gamers have been searching for almost a decade to replace the beloved PSO.

Enter Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga (VK:ES).  This action adventure RPG romp is the third in the series and a first on home consoles.  Simply put, XSeed’s homage to PSO falls short of reinvigorating the gameplay gamers know and love, and instead, misses the mark completely.  It has more problems than Jay-Z can count and is something that only extremely hardcore fans of item collecting dungeon crawlers should pick up. LEGO Indiana Jones 2, scheduled for release on November 25, is the follow-up to your girlfriend’s favourite console game. You’ll play through setpieces taken from the fourth film, while again re-living the first three Indy flicks.

Seemingly questionable, the developers have reassured us that the adventure from LEGO Indiana Jones has not been recycled. Copied and pasted or not, Indiana Jones 2 will this time allow gamers create their own levels via a map builder according to their every whim.

Swing from tree to tree, do a backflip and jump right in for the developer walkthrough.

Ballad of Gay Tony

Not only will Grand Theft Auto 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony feature a single-player story to play through, but multiplayer will allow you to return to the skies with parachutes.

Rockstar has announced plenty of new weapons as well, including the Assault SMG, Gold SMG, Explosive Shotgun, Sticky Bombs and more. And if standard firepower just isn’t enough, then you can sink your teeth into both tanks, and attack choppers in Gay Tony multiplayer.

Hit the jump to check out at the new screenshots.
