Morgan Webb: “This is the only game out there [Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time] for people who like action platformers. I guess there’s Mario Galaxy, but it feels like it’s aimed so much for kids.”
There’s not much I can say to that, so just enjoy the header I found on Google Images, and hit the jump for the awful clip, containing one of the worst quotes of all time.
The quote is around 2:00 in. Someone on Go Nintendo said it best: “calling Mario Galaxy a kids game is like calling Wall-E a kids movie. A classic is a classic”.
Pssst, Morgan: pretty much everyone outside of the “DUR HUR Wiis for kids” crowd liked Mario Galaxy.

I’m sorry, but I agree with her.
The Mario Franchise has -always- been geared towards kids. The kids just bring along the rest of the family because its “cute and innocent fun”. Sorry GamerLimit but I dont really think Morgan Manjaw needs to be crucified for stating the obvious.
On a side note; I didn’t like Mario Galaxy. It was a good game but it didn’t seem to have the same soul that Mario 3 or Mario 64 had. Galaxy just felt like Mario 64 Redux in my opinion.
Is it not an action platformer?
It’s certainly much better than any Ratchet and Clank game I’ve ever played.
It’s more pure platformer than action platformer.
But I strongly disagree, Mario Galaxy was one step above Mario Sunshine in my opinion. I’ve personally felt the later Ratchet and Clank games have been a few steps ahead of the recent Mario Games in terms of overall quality with gameplay, visuals, and overall presentation.
but let me ask, when did being “for kids” become such a slur in terms of gaming? It’s not a bad thing and doesnt mean teens and adults can’t enjoy it. It just doesnt have anything that makes it “mature” it just means the game is aimed to be family friendly and appeal to as many as possible without confusing/offending.
What a moron. This show lost its relevance a long time ago.
came from reddit. in before wii hate.
You can’t really call yourself a gamer if you spend more time pondering the degree of kid friendly content in a game instead of actual gameplay.
I’ve finally realised where G4 fits in the family tree of television; it’s the loser sibling of Spike tv. They go for the same idiotic fan base (or dupe legitimate but unsuspecting game fans) but G4 tries to offer something for the physically weaker frat boys to watch when UFC is on.
Haha I love all the G4 bashing. G4 went down the crapper when it became G4. TechTV > G4. I miss Screensavers. Leo Laporte ftw!
@Kevin
Leo still does a great weekly podcast! He’ll always live on, and I love Screensavers.
Mario Galaxy is the only Wii single player game I’ve ever enjoyed playing.
That said, I’m so buying Ratchet and Clank’s A Crack in Time.
Damn Chris, you tore Ms. Webb a new one. I always thought she was kind of hot until you posted that goofy looking picture of her and pointed out her bald spot. Now I shutter at the site of her.
Wall-E is a kids film. Otherwise what is it? An adult film?
Face Palm!
I’ve always been against this monstrosity of the gaming world. But I can’t decide who I hate more: her or Adam Sessler. And I have to agree with Chris; Galaxy is far better than anything I’ve seen Ratchet and Clank offer recently, and I can’t wait for Mario Galaxy 2.
My $0.02:
G4: It’s been a joke for a loooong time. I don’t think anyone here would disagree with that!
Mario: I think Mario has gotten a bad wrap since Nintendo became a “kiddie console”. Most of us on here were playing Mario when we were kids, and when we were kids I would imagine that most of us considered the game fairly difficult until we beat it 30 times in a row using warps, whistle, etc. Mario 64 really changed the gaming industry by introducing the masses to 3D gaming just like Super Mario Bros introduced most of us to gaming period. The 64 was, in my opinion, the start of the downfall of Nintendo as a serious contender in the world of gaming, not because the games were EASIER, but because the target audience (kids now hitting the 10-14 age group) were far more interested in games like Metal Gear Solid. The PS took over as the ‘hardcore’ solution to an aging gaming market simply because it had more mature games. What’s more fun for a teenager, smashing goombas or hunting down a psycho bent on world domination? The fact is Nintendo stayed with what it knew, and still does. It sells games like Mario Galaxy to kids (as it did with us and Mario games on the NES/SNES) and to people who are looking for a more nostalgic game or something that’s just ‘fun’. I don’t think it’s fair to hate on Nintendo simply because it has stuck with what it knows simply because we’ve all grown up beyond the reach of Mario games. Who cares if Mario games are easy to play, isn’t that kind of the point?
@ Chris
Adam Sessler is the only person employed by G4 that really has merit as a gaming journalist. Without Sessler X-Play would have never lived beyond it’s time as Gamespot TV
Someone reminded me that Adam Sessler once said “Beatmania ripped off Guitar Hero”.
@ Chris
I thought it was Webb who said that?
Where’s Webbs baldspot?!
What happened to the awesome picture?!
Booo lol
ok webb has a small bald spot but how many hot chicks do you know that you wouldnt still @#% if they had such a small flaw, what do you pay attention to when you are @%#@#% a chick or is the reason people hate so hard…… cuz they dont
I agree. Everytime I play a Mario game I feel like I’m being patronized with ultra cutesy characters, the same damn kidnapped princess story, and the same kindergarten vernacular and humor. I remember conflicts that were watered down in Mario 64 that smacked of political correctness and sounded like some promo for universal happiness, harmony, and understanding. I’m not disputing that the Mario games are classics, but you can’t dispute that fact they are geared towards children.
At least Wall-E injected some subtle adult humor and put characters in situations that were above the heads of most children, unlike Mario.
