Not a rip off of HOMM, but a ripoff of something older: Fantasy General. Look for a copy of FG and you will see the similitudes.
From my point of view, The Fantasy Wars/Elven Legacy serie it’s fine and it’s doing a good job on updating the gameplay of a very old game to something more modern and packaging the very same gameplay in something similar, yet new.

bah… Ok I’ve played through the main campaign and I’m not happy with the game.. Its fun, but its like a retarded rip off of Heroes of might and magic. The movement wasn’t well thought out (two layers: flying/ground units that don’t easily share the same space). The lack of controllable cities, or resources to manage also pushed me away. This isn’t 1995, we expect any turnbased game to have some sort of depth to it. All in all, I wish I had downloaded a torrent to try it out first.

I’ve enjoyed Fantasy Wars and Elven Legacy. I have already downloaded this and look forward to playing it. I strongly suggest this series if you are a Turn Based gamer.
