borderlands Borderlands PS3 suffering from co op mode glitches

Borderlands on the PS3 has been the source of many complaints lately, with the latest news reporting that the co-op mode is a complete mess. Problems include friends not showing up on the in-game friends list, game freezes of up to 30 minutes when attempting to open the public games list, and a lag-filled session if anyone does manage to connect at all.

Thankfully however, Gearbox Software has stated that “they’ve identified the problem and are working on a fix.”

Software engineer Scott Velasquez also added that the game’s co-op mode was heavily tested and these problems never emerged during testing. With the European launch set for tomorrow, Velazquez promised that they “are doing everything we can to get this problem addressed quickly,” and will hopefully have a patch ready within the next few days.

[Update: It seems like a patch was already enacted. It appears the skill "Phase Strike" is still broken, however.]

Wow this guy is really harsh on Borderlands, I’ve had it since release. It I can’t say that during a 4 man co-op session have I ever experienced tremendous lag there are those little moments of lag yes, but nothing game stopping. and whats this about game freezing?, So far I’ve never encountered a game freezing, I have gotten stuck on two objects before but was released after the battle session that got me stuck in the first place. Borderlands is a terrific game, with some bugs but nothing game stopping.

Yea it seems like little issues are popping up every day, but Gearbox is quick to fix them.

I just wish that the 2-player local co-op could join an online co-op game….If they patched that in, I would buy it, and so would my sister.

There just aren’t enough games that allow 2 players on a system locally, while adding another online (Basically LBP and Resistance 2)…So it’s hard to find games to play with my sister and her husband on the other side of the US…

Borderlands Still has unacceptable lag. Single player lag along with multiplayer lag is very detrimental to gameplay experience. when i engage multiple bods or play 4 man Co-OP i might as well make a sendwhich when fights are going on. Real-time lag in single player range from 100ms to 30,000 ms. depending on where i am at. Co-op 4 man can turn into ,e looking at jumbled messs on the screen. FAIL game engine. Who the hell uses a unreal engine anyways.. Its to bad they will NEVER fix this.

I agree with Justin, Online still have a lot of lag. The Patch didin’t fix that.

Only Online have lag, not Single Player or Coop Offline. But when I host, even with 2 Players Online, I have lag (hosting a Server).

Or 3 to 4 Players in the server, the Lag is unacceptable. Is Unplayable.

Doesn’t matter if you have like 2MB, 3MB, 4MB of connection to host, still will have lag, and I don’t know why.

Confirmed, I have a new system and just got Borderlands and mostly on 4mans it’s lag cit.

I’ve even been on the phone with a pal and while testing the bluetooth device you could clearly count a full second before my voice was heard on his end. (Cod4-2 gameplay and voice works just fine)

Awesome game though worth putting up with some bugs. (although some may classify these bugs as game breakers)
