Today Ubisoft announced that the long running city management PC game series The Settlers, will be getting a new sequel spring 2010. Dubbed The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom, gamers can expect more of the same ‘explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate’ gameplay they’ve come to love.
Developed by Blue Byte, makers of Anno 1404: Dawn of Discovery, Settlers 7 features a new graphics engine and improved AI with “more than a dozen AI profiles, each with unique behaviors.” Settlers 7 also includes several multiplayer modes and the potential for “user-generated and downloadable content.”
For those of you who’ve never ventured into The Settlers series, gameplay focuses on city management with players attempting to create an efficient settlement. From here, gamers can choose to pursuit three paths to victory, military, science and trade. According to Ubisoft, Settlers 7 will feature a new victory points system that “brings more tension and competition to the game.”
Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Ubisoft stated, “The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom brings The Settlers franchise to the next level of the strategy-sim genre, employing the core mechanisms that made the series a success while continuing to innovate in new areas that will give gamers the ability to craft their own unique, thrilling experience.”
