Yesterday (Monday the 28th of September) a new thread arrived in Star Wars: The Old Republic’s official forums that implicated a link that appeared on an RSS feed on some members computers: a beta testing event. I have been reading up on this, and this morning the thread was over 270 pages long, with no sign of a developer making an announcement whether this information was correct or a hoax.

Today, it was confirmed when an official page arrived on Bio Ware’s website! Unfortunately for some, there are requirements for people to be able to become a beta tester with SW: TOR.

Gamer Limit Review: Ion Assault
By: | September 29th, 2009

ion assault header

At first glance, Ion Assault seems to be your typical arcade shooter in the vein of Geometry Wars.

Much like Geometry Wars, you control a spaceship from a top-down perspective and fly around an enclosed area shooting bad guys, but this is where the similarity ends. Read on to find out if Ion Assault can differentiate itself from the pack or ends up being “just another shmup”. Read more… »

Every so often, an addictive game comes along and swallows us whole. For some, it’s Call of Duty: World at War’s zombie mode. For others, it’s Wii Sports Resort, and for the few, the proud, and the nerdy, its a little ol’ genre known as MMOs.

These games come and go by the droves. They range from sci-fi to fantasy; from free to play to $15 a month; from casual to hardcore; and from a full $50 entry cost to browser based affairs. But all of them have one thing in common: they’re timesinks. For the socially sane, MMOs are squeezed in after work, and before dinner with the kids, or after the wife goes to sleep (cough, cough). Should you choose to take the road less traveled and let an MMO dominate your life, say goodbye to your significant other, your social life, and your job.

So who is the new kid in town? What devilish fiend is attempting to lure you into his van with candy, and take you on a vacation that never ends? This month, its NCSoft’s Aion. Read more… »

With nearly 680 locations in the United States, retailer Game Crazy will be closing 200 locations by the end of October.  Game Crazy is considered one of the more convenient chains for some, as being attached to Hollywood Video provides consumers with a much larger video game rental selection.

A list of the affected locations is currently being worked. For now, you may want to stop by your local Game Crazy to see if yours will still exist in the near future. But for most, the loss of stores for this small video game retailer will leave a resounding silence. Read more… »

Working in conjunction with organizers, Crytek UK’s Narrative Designer, Rob Yescombe, believes the game will be “hide and seek for the 21st Century – good old fashioned fun but with a Crytek UK twist.”

Hit the jump to find out when and where the action will be taking place.

leviathan4

Fall is in full swing, and as all gamers know, the barrage of games is just beginning to hit us. Pretty soon we’ll all be reveling in the goliath IPs set for release in just a few short weeks and months, inevitably losing days to such epics as Modern Warfare 2 and Dragon Age. Ever since E3, we here at Gamer Limit have been eagerly waiting this fall rush; I in fact caught Chris Carter drooling over the most recent Brutal Legends trailer. And boy, that wasn’t pretty.

But to help with this excessive salivation, Telltale Games gives us the third installment of their quirky five part graphic adventure series: Tales of Monkey Island. After two humorously solid episodes, can Telltale keep coming with the funny? Or does Lair of the Leviathan fall short on props and go down faster than Carrot Top doing…well, anything? Read more… »

[Congratulations rooster1117!]

There’s something about being American that inherently forces you to love cars.

All you have to do is post below what your favorite car is: it can be anything, from Henry Ford’s Model T, to the Lamborghini Murciélago. Gamer Limit will choose the best explained entry, then after we receive your mailing address, we’ll send you the game.

Update: rooster1117 won by a landslide vote! Not only did he pick an incredibly unique car, but his obvious mechanical prowess really resonated with the staff. I’ve already sent you an email requesting your mailing address. Special mentions are in order for Sean and Kauza, both of whom had excellent entries. Stay tuned for more Gamer Limit contests every week, and thanks for entering! Read more… »
