It’s no secret that rock n’ roll games are being produced like hotcakes. Recently, the two franchises just surpassed the three billion dollar mark successfully revitalizing interest in the genre from classic rock to contemporary punk. Sheet Music Plus, the nation’s leading online provider for sheet music, is urging consumers to rock the stage as well as the television. Read more… »
Being a leader is all about influence. Regardless of whether power is vested in someone of good or evil intent, their common trait will always involve holding significant amounts of sway. That said, many of gaming’s most influential leaders are more often then not likely to follow them onto the battlefield, or intricately control and mastermind the success of their objectives.
Thus, it is with a slightly different tact that Majesty 2, developed by 1C:Ino-Co, one of Russia’s largest development studios, takes on the traditional RTS genre. In a similar style to Squaresoft’s WiiWare title, My Life as a King, players are tasked with banishing the land of evil not by their own hand, but by hiring heroes, who’s alliance is to nothing but money. Does this quasi-sim provide the right balance, or is it destined to be thrown into bargain bin of irrelevance?

If you haven’t heard of 3D Dot Game Heroes, imagine the original Legend of Zelda game… then pop it up into three dimensions, and don’t change anything else. Taa-daa! You have an upcoming PS3 game that’s on a lot of gamers’ radars.

For the sixth time in history, a new Pac-Man world record has been achieved. Since Billy Mitchell achieved the perfect score on Namco’s classic title ten years ago, four other gamers have stepped up to the plate and earned the title of “Fastest Pac-Man High Score Getting Dude”.
Well, now Ohio native David Race has the honor of being the fastest gamer to complete a perfect score in Pac-Man.

You’ve read the hype, you’ve seen the proposed full list of functional words, and you’re primed to buy Scribblenauts this Tuesday. Before you do, make sure you take note of Toys R’ Us’ exclusive one day sale: a free $15 gift card at the time of purchase.
Effectively, that cuts the price of the game in half (provided you want to buy something else at Toys R’ Us), so go out there and get creative!
A wise musician once said “love is all you need”. This adage can be applied to just about anything in our daily lives, including video game development.
The Beatles: Rock Band is a product of such love. So much meticulous work went into making sure every facet of the game was true to the Beatle’s soul, you’d swear they were making a comeback.
This kind of care is in stark contrast to Guitar Hero 5′s recent infamous corporate use of grunge legend Kurt Cobain. Read on for a quick journey into the utterly polarizing world of contemporary rhythm games. Read more… »

When it comes to sports titles, Fifa has got to rank as one of the biggest, but for a number of years, it did not necessarily provide the best footballing experience on consoles. However, in its last few iterations Fifa has provided an increasingly solid game to compliment its impressive collection of licensed leagues.
The Fifa 10 demo gives you a small taste of what will be on offer come the 2nd of October, and as far as nibbles go, it delivers the sort of gaming appetizer that will make fans of Fifa hungry for more. Hit the jump to find out why.

Guitar Hero 5 has so far been met with critical acclaim, but the members of Nirvana do not share their blessings due to the appearance of a resurrected Kurt Cobain avatar.
Band members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl took issue with the fact that the avatar can be used in conjunction with any chosen song, and not just tracks written by Nirvana which they were originally led to believe, expressing that they are “dismayed and very disappointed”.
Meanwhile Courtney Love, Cobain’s widow, is also not very happy with Activision, it would seem. Following Cobain’s apparently blasphemous appearance in the game, she has taken it upon herself to sue the company, describing the stunt as “vile”. Activision were quick to have the last laugh however, after reiterating her signed contract of approval.

You gotta love PC gaming when it comes to FPS titles. Valve gives away treasure troves of free content while 360/PS3 owners have to pay, and Call of Duty World at War fans get their map packs for free, albeit about a month late. I’m already enjoying map pack 3 on my 360, and can safely say that while the actual levels are lacking, the nazi zombie level “Der Riese” is absolutely the best yet.
While some may find it odd that I have World At War for both PC and Xbox 360, I will say that they’re both distinctly different experiences, and I’m just glad I don’t have to pay double for DLC! Hit the jump for all the details on pack (to be released next week), compliments of Treyarch. Read more… »

In a rather odd announcement by Activision, it seems like Prototype will be featured in some way shape or form in tomorrow’s episode of HBO’s Entourage.
Will it be showcased on the crew’s 360, already shown in previous episodes’ highlights of Gears of War 2? Or will Ari Gold breakdown and buy them a PS3 Slim? Feel free to fuel the console wars, or show your love/hate for Entourage’s Sixth Season below.
