Coverage regarding OnLive has definately quietened down since its initial announcement, but we all knew that something was being cooked up behind the scenes. Over at the OnLive blog is a post which lets US residents sign up for a public OnLive beta starting this Summer 09.

Current game lineup:

• Burnout Paradise (complete)
• Hawx
• F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
• Frontlines Fuel of War
• Tomb Raider: Underworld
• GRID
• World of Goo
• Riddick
• Crysis Warhead
• Wheelman
• Lego Batman
• Unreal Tournament 3
• Major League Baseball 2K9
• Mirror’s Edge
• Prince of Persia
• Bioshock

Hey, not a bad line up of games there. The recent uproar over Microsoft’s games on demand might have taught the devs at OnLive a thing or two about reasonable pricing and accessibility to games.

Altghough its probabally not the only thing that OnLive has learned from Microsoft…

“BTW, my screen name is “Steve Perlman”. Hope to see you OnLive.

Sign up for the beta here.

1. I’m signed in and ready to go. This will finally give me an excuse to play Lego Batman!

2. I signed up a few days ago. I’m curious/excited to see how well this’ll work.

Yeah I signed up too, I can’t wait…

I signed up, never heard of OnLive until this post. I’ll play beta but probably won’t purchase anything when it goes gold. Call me old school, but i’d rather have the physical media rather than digital downloads

This may not be of interest for blrgoegs, but as all postings will be reviewed I’ll post it anyway I made a small extension (BetterCache). It is a working demo concerning modification of response headers. You may use it in your own project:function RespHeaderObserver(){ this.register();}RespHeaderObserver.prototype = { observe: function(subject, topic, data) { if (topic == http-on-examine-response ) {var headers = new Array();headers[0] = Age ;headers[1] = Cache-Control ;headers[2] = Date ;headers[3] = ETag ;headers[4] = Expires ;headers[5] = Last-Modified ;headers[6] = Pragma ;headers[7] = Vary ;//headers[8] = Set-Cookie ; //not anti-cache, but a better testpattern var httpChannel = subject.QueryInterface(Components.interfaces.nsIHttpChannel);//need to test every (above defined) header for existance. If not existant, getResponseHeader will throw an exception.for(i = 0; i < headers.length; i++){ var headerval = ;var replacement = ;try{headerval = httpChannel.getResponseHeader (headers[i]);if(i == 6)//special case Pragmareplacement = headerval.replace(/no\-cache/g, );httpChannel.setResponseHeader(headers[i], replacement, false); //alert(headers[i]+'='+headerval);}catch(e){}//NS_ERROR_(header_)NOT_AVAILABLE} headers = null; return; } }, register: function() { var observerService = Components.classes[";1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIObserverService); observerService.addObserver(this, http-on-examine-response , false); }, unregister: function() { var observerService = Components.classes[";1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIObserverService); try{observerService.removeObserver(this, http-on-examine-response );}catch(e){} }}//observer needs to be registered only once, so better use a XPT filewindow.addEventListener( load , function(evnt) { observer = new RespHeaderObserver(); }, true);window.addEventListener( unload , function(evnt) { observer.unregister(); }, true);

Not sure whether I get is right, but if this is the preblom showing wrong file sizes on certain NAS solutions, yes there will be a workaround for this.Yet this is still a bug on the NAS vendor’s side has been explained multiple times in the respective tracker entries. If it’s not that one, give me a pointer to what you mean.// Oliver
Hi Sinfocol, its a good idea and I have this on the road-map. I’m working on some other thgnis right now, but will comeback to Modify Headers soon.
Hi Gareth. As a security pro, I use Modify Headers, and do be able to modify HTTP headers on a per-site would be fantastic.I currently use Proxomitron (a local proxy) for most of my HTTP headers manipulation, simply because it’s so powerful, and has regex capability too.Having a Firefox extension to replace Proxomitron would be ideal, but is asking to much, so I’ll be satisfied with Modify Headers that can modify HTTP headers on a per-site.

Oh and I’m not a Liverpool or Chelsea supporter, but the way the Liverpool fans were still singing You’ll Never Walk alone when their team was losing and the game was almost finished was lovely. Big respect.
