Today Nintendo announced that its ridiculously popular console, the Wii, will be receiving a price cut in the U.S. this Sunday, Sept. 27. Lopping off $50 from the retail price, the waggle-tastic console can now  be yours for only $199.

This news really shouldn’t comes as surprise to anyone. Over the last few weeks the Internet has been awash in rumors thanks to numerous leaked documents from various retailers.

Just last month, Nintendo’s competitors Sony and Microsoft announced price drops for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Is the Wii’s price drop a response to its competition? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.

  1. The wii’s a waste anyway.

I got it, played the new fire emblem and Tales of games, but after that, I lost interest, and sold it.

Don’t get me wrong, those were amazing (Yet underrated), but if you don’t have titles you KNOW you will love when you buy the wii, you will hate it, guaranteed.

Oh, and also, the Xbox is not the only poorly made console. My wii stopped reading disks in a year, thankfully it was after I played my games enough.

whew, glad I paid 180 flat for my Wii. That was just so I could play the “new super mario” and Team Ninjas Metroid.
