A pleasingly content heavy update has hit the European store this week, including the introduction of dynamic animated themes (including one free of charge thankfully) and an array of playable demos including Fifa 10 and Fat Princess. Couple this with the usual cascade of downloadable content, including the first released content for Guitar Hero 5, and you have a satisfying update to trawl through.

However, there is one thing in particular that has caused a bit of bewilderment, and that is the inclusion of a playable demo of LittleBigPlanet. Considering that the popular game came out over a year ago, its inclusion is puzzling but on closer inspection it sort of makes sense.

On release, LittleBigPlanet struggled to gain initial momentum at the time and then there is the coincidental launch of the PS3 Bulimic and LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition. The demo is therefore most likely designed to reintroduce itself to adoptors of the new PS3 model who have yet to fall for the smiling Sackboy’s seductive charms.

This week’s update can be found in full after the break.

  1. I think it should be noted that the Wipeout dynamic theme is free. Giving users who don’t want to pay for the LBP theme their first taste of the new themes available with firmware 3.00.

Seems like Sony isn’t all bad then. :)
