World of Goo Banner

In honor of Direct2Drive’s five-year anniversary, they’ve been basically giving away a different batch of games every week for the past several weeks… everything from AAA heavy-hitters like Riddick and Bioshock to – this week – indie games!

Five years in business = five dollar games.  Can’t beat that with a stick.

Hit the jump to see the gems from this week!

  • Mount and Blade
  • World of Goo
  • Defense Grid: The Awakening
  • Sword of the Stars
  • Cogs
  • Light of Altair
  • The Path
  • Bridge Construction Set
  • Gish
  • Zatikon

Not too shabby of a selection, and there’s still a few of the past weeks’ deals from which to pick.

Buy them here!

I for one will be downloading World of Goo (one of the biggest indie success stories in recent memory, with an incarnation even making its way onto WiiWare).  But Gish looks cool too… in a LocoRoco kind of way.

See anything you’ll be picking up to support your friendly neighborhood indie developer?  You only have until October 5th!

  1. Gish was before LocoRoco and is extremely fun. You should definitely pick it up for the price, as it the gameplay is not only solid, it also features some great movie poster spoofs featuring the 10 lb. ball of tar.

  2. I’m definitely going to have to pick up World of Goo.

  3. Everyone should buy Mount and Blade.

Yeah, you’re absolutely right. Analogue corontl with a joystick is much better for this kind of game, rather than just tapping buttons. Although mind you, I happily play with keyboard most of the time (despite piles of Xbox 360 corontllers on my desk) and it’s a shame that you find it so bad that it ruins the entire rest of the game for you. You’re the first person to really complain about that.Mouse corontl was something I thought about, but in the end it didn’t really work, you bounce around too much and move too much. It just doesn’t create the feel that I wanted, and I much preferred the keyboard.

NateJust wanted to inofrm you that I bought all three of your games today, and must say that I am outraged! I expected these to cost 240 points a piece. Then I noticed you’re practically giving your games away at 80 points and asked myself: why!?Seriously, though, very, very awesome design and playability. Love the way Crossfire reminds me of the good old times sitting at my Commodore. Especially the music. Keep up the good work, I will follow your site for new releases. And crank up those prices for goodness’ sake!
