Just a few short months after BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger‘s stateside release, the newest issue of the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has announced an upgrade-sequel to the original game. As the title of the article mentions, it will be called BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, and if you just so happen to be on vacation in Akihabara, Japan in three days, you can take part in the location test!

However, for the 99.9% of the readers who won’t be, hit the jump to see the details on the new BlazBlue, so you can live vicariously through all the people playing the cool new version of the game.

Continuum Shift Features:

  • Two new characters! One has been announced publicly so far: Her name is Tsubaki Yayoi, a character reportedly designed to be easy to use for beginners – something that BlazBlue could really use.
  • Old characters are receiving new moves!
  • New stages, and the old stages are being redone.
  • New HUD graphics.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is set to hit Japanese arcades this winter, and will eventually see a release on Playstation 3/XBox360. There have been no announcements about a US release thus far, but stay tuned for more news on the newest installment of BlazBlue!

  1. I was really into this game when it was released. Now it just sits in my ridiculously long backlog :(

  2. It’s really sad that this sequel is confirmed even before the Street Fighter IV follow-up is ready.

  3. :(

    They’re ready already?

This is BS, this type of content should be DLC.

  4. Well, it’s important to consider that BlazBlue has already been out in Japan for about a year…so while it’s only been three months for us, they’ve been at it a lot longer. One year is pretty standard for fighting game updates.

I’m happy to know there is an update but I’m not so thrilled that i now have to buy another version of the game just to keep up with the community… It’s Guilty Gear all over again…

Buying it once does not make you some magical recipient of free content.

It’s no big deal. It’s coming out next year to consoles. If it does turn out to be 60 bucks again… Is it so hard to save up 3 bucks a week to put fourth to this game? You know it’s coming, just save some money.

If that’s too much trouble, go up to gamestop every 2 weeks and put a few dollars into the reservation, or don’t buy it. I’m buying it twice, DLC, or not.
