Legend of Neil

If you are a Legend of Zelda fan and you haven’t seen the webseries spoof Legend of Neil, you are doing yourself a great disservice.  Crafted by some of the same crazy people who created The Guild, the series follows the reluctant adventures of a gas station attendant from Jersey, named Neil, who gets sucked into Legend of Zelda and has to fight his way out.

Currently in season 2, the show has garnered quite a following thanks to its crude and hilarious writing.  The latest episode features the entire cast breaking out in song, as the series breaks from its normal format and turns into a musical.  Even if you have never seen or heard of it before, this is the episode every Zelda fan must see.

Oh yeah, did I mention it stars Felicia Day?  Hit the jump to watch it now. Read more… »

Shadow_Complex_Logo

In the ever-expanding video game industry, developers and publishers constantly go out of their way to try and convince people that their games are unique and different. Therefore, it came as a surprise when Chair Entertainment announced at E3 that the upcoming title, Shadow Complex, was essentially a clone of the older Metroid and Castlevania style games.

They didn’t try and sugar-coat their game with buzz words like “innovative” or “ground breaking”, nor did they say they changed the “Metroid-vania” formula.  Chair simply let gamers know exactly what to expect when they paid $15 for Shadow Complex.  What they neglected to tell us was that they had actually created one of the best, if not “the best”, Xbox Live Arcade games ever created.  Read on to find out why. Due to a legal loophole, the 1984 UK Video Recordings Act has now been rendered obsolete.

What this means is that any video game or movie with an age rating can be legally sold to any person, regardless of what age they are. So in theory, little Timmy can pop off down the shops and buy whatever filth his lunch money can afford. Read more… »

PS3 Slim

With the Playstation 3 Slim only days from release, Sony has already revealed that the new console will be hard pressed to make a profit on hardware sales alone.

Sony knows all about losing money on console sales; when the original Playstation 3 was released, Sony lost money on each and every console sold. Of course, things have turned around since then, but with the impending release of their diminutive product, Sony once again faces the knowledge that early takings are going to stutter.

Hit the jump to hear what Sony executive Kaz Hirai had to say on the matter.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

News regarding a Beyond Good & Evil sequel has been scant ever since Ubisoft confirmed development back in 2008. However, despite a teaser trailer and apparent “leaked gameplay footage”, production seems to have halted indefinitely.

Colin Solal Cardo of Gamersyde recently twittered, “I got confirmation at Cologne’s Gamescom that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on hold for now. No idea if it’s def or temporary but it sucks.”

The last time I declared “best video ever” was for Brental Floss’ Ducktales with lyrics masterpiece: but honestly, this trumps it. As a huge fan of both underground rap and Mega Man, this video simply did it all for me.

The song is, simply put, an epic hip hop story of Mega Man’s quest to defeat all eight robot bosses before taking on Wily in Mega Man 2. It’s performed by The Adventures of Duane & Brand0, a name you won’t soon forget, as their album comes out this month, and you will most likely be buying it. Watch it, foo! Read more… »
