The summer is about to end and it’s almost time to usher in that very cold period of the year known as fall and winter.  With it will come a great many wonderful things, such as football, turkey, snowmen, and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.  Accompanying all those chestnuts is typically a huge deluge of video game releases to help you empty your wallet.

Lately, a large number of big name titles have started to get pushed back to 2010, such as Bioshock 2, Dark Void and Starcraft 2.  This is stirring the internet into a panic, as people are starting to complain that there aren’t enough games coming out in 2009 anymore.  Well everyone needs to stop worrying, because there are still plenty of releases left this Christmas to dig your teeth into. It’s no surprise that many AAA titles get delayed considering the amount of sales at stake. So when BioWare confirmed that Dragon Age: Origins will indeed be lightly pushed from an October 20 to a November 3 release date, it was really nothing unusual.

A rep from BioWare deaded the circulating rumours to IGN yesterday morning by stating that “Dragon Age Origins will be released on November 3rd in North America and November 6th in Europe for Xbox 360 and PC. The Playstation 3 version will follow later in November.” Read more… »

With celebrities such as Jack Black and Ozzy Osbourne taking starring roles, we can only expect the best selection of low tuned and angry guitar riffs. EA Denmark has released the full track list on their site while its awesome, I cant help but think this would be an insane rhythm game track list.

Really EA?

With Madden 2010 just around the corner with an August 14th release, I continue to salivate at every piece Madden news. Pumped and ready to go for the midnight release at my local Gamestop and a vacation day being used from work on Friday to play all day, this latest piece of news leaves a concerning and bad taste in my mouth.

More details behind the Madden Shop have been released and it is certainly not for the feint hearted. Read more… »

Often gamers will scoff at the announcement of downloadable content prior to the release of game. It is doubtful that the notoriety that Modern Warfare 2 is likely to receive will save it from upcoming scrutiny.

With over eight million copies of the Variety Map Pack sold for Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 and PS3, preparing downloadable content for the sequel is an obvious choice for total revenue that can be tapped from the title.

If you’re an avid online gamer who is consistently using Xbox Live, it is very likely that your friends list is near or at the 100 gamertag cap. While there has never been a concrete answer given as to why that number was chosen, there has always been someone who wants it to be higher.

On CheapAssGamer podcast episode #94, Xbox Live Community Manager Major Nelson said that the average was anywhere from twenty-five to thirty, and only a few had their lists maxed out. Therefore raising the number was not a big priority.

There has never been any confirmation that they are working on raising the cap until recently. Read more… »

It comes as no surprise that Wii Sports Resort is selling like hotcakes to the international gaming community. In Japan the original title sold almost one to one with the Wii, so strong numbers coming from the sequel should not be a surprise.

Japan has seen the game on store shelves the longest, followed by America and Europe. The combined numbers are somewhat staggering when you consider that Wii Sports Resort has been in North America and Europe less than a month. Read more… »

From the coveted Madden series to the various competing titles for the NBA, MLB, and NHL, it has been a creator’s ambition to make the next year of sports gaming more realistic and compelling then the last.  After spending just under a year with NBA 2K9, and NBA 2K10 fast approaching, I’ve had the opportunity to play through the woes of being owner, GM, and coach with Association 2.0.  What I thought I knew about basketball, made me realize that I’m just another ranting fan pushing for the next big trade. Puzzle games have historically operated on the rule of three. Groups of three, three hits, three colors and three lives.

Stone Loops! of Jurassica doesn’t defer from this rule of thumb, but it implements enough new features and tweaks, which give it a slight edge against similar Zuma-esque games on the app store. Read more… »
