Its only natural that we would expect Microsoft to hit back after the announcement of a slim PlayStation 3. After some believable rumors, and a few dodgy camera phone pictures Major Nelson has posted on twitter, it looks like the Xbox 360 Elite will receive a $100 price cut in the US.

“Starting Friday, August 28th (tomorrow) the price of the Xbox 360 Elite is getting a one-hundred dollar price cut in the United States.
Here is how the new pricing breaks down:
| Xbox 360 Elite | $399.99 | now $299.99* |
| Xbox 360 Pro | $299.99 | now $249.99* While supplies last |
| Xbox 360 Arcade | $199.99 | $199.99* |

Betcha didn’t see that coming…did you ?”

Seems like the Pro model is on the way out to leave only ‘high’ and ‘low’ end models of 360 available.

i spent £180 ($240) on a pro about 3 months ago and have already got that much value out of the thing so i am really not that bothered by this but i feel i should be.
yeah, if I didn’t get massive amount of playtime out of my launch 360, then I’d be a bit bitter.
This is always bound to happen. I wonder how Gamecube owners who bought the console at launch felt when, one day, it suddenly dropped to $99 USD?
Oh well, it’s like Chris just said (sort of), as long as your console is seeing a lot of use, it’s likely that you got your money’s worth.
