Happy Sunday, everybody! Welcome to The Week In News, your handy round-up of the highlights and lowlights from the past seven days in gaming news here at Gamer Limit. Read on, and when you find things written in blue, be sure to click! You’ll then be transported into the past or, more specifically, to the story mentioned.

Was that a boring tutorial I just gave you? Ah well, you’re a flippin’ gamer, aren’t you? You’re more than used to it then. So hit the jump and go it alone!

Let’s begin by building up a head of steam, shall we? OK, so Steam are offering a few rather sweet deals at present, including lots and lots and lots of 2K games for fifty-four bucks(!) and, this weekend only, Fallout 3 for half price. Those are daylight robbery! And, speaking of which, some dude playing Eve Online stole lots of virtual currency and sold it for real cash. Brilliant.

While we’re on the subject of real money, I’d like to turn your attentions to the supposed retail price of DJ Hero in the UK: ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT BLOODY QUID!? Yes, it’s true. What are they trying to do to us? Hmmm, perhaps Activision wants a 500% rise in business much like Southpeak Interactive managed over the past year or so. I guess business models are all-important in this day and age; just ask THQ, who told us why cutting 550 jobs was a neccessity for them to survive.

When news starts to get you down, much like some of that last paragraph managed, it is often best to turn to the heroes of this world. I’m talking, of course, about Mario and Batman. OK, so Mario… wait… oh. Mario won’t be getting any new suits in Mario Galaxy 2 and Batman is going to experience “the worst night of his life” in Batman: Arkham Asylumcheck out this dev diary clip. Well, that was all a little worrying, wasn’t it? Errm, YES! More Mario news, this time a little happier! Super Mario Omega looks great in this clip (watch out for the Sonic-themed level).

ZOMBIIIIIIIIIIIES! People are pre-ordering Left 4 Dead 2 by the bucketload and Wii Sports Resort has already infected 350,000 in Japan, and they’ve been shuffling around the complex ever since. Meanwhile, we’d love to shuffle around Blizzard’s geek nirvana – which includes too many games on lots of shelves – any day of the week.

PIRAAAAATES! Speaking of Blizzard, they have announced that Starcraft II won’t support LAN gaming in order to prevent piracy. Fair enough. Also, remember Pirate Bay, the illegal file-sharing site that resulted in Swedish people going to jail? Apparently, the service has been sold to a company that intends to keep it legit.

And finally…

If you are eager to get your grubby mits on a Lost Planet 2 demo any time soon, you should steer clear of asking the game’s producer when this actually happen. Why? Because he’ll be incredibly vague.

Thanks for stopping by here at Gamer Limit. Hopefully you’ll stick around long enough to witness how we complete our mission to become the most powerful machine known to mankind… I guess. What’s more, YOU can help us by creating your own blogs, with a great chance of making front page.

  1. I never really enjoyed Lost Planet that much, but I’m looking forward to the second game’s demo.

    Nice recap!
