brutal-legend-figure

Ah, the special edition issue raises its ugly head again… or does it? Well, no. Looking at this figurine for EA’s upcoming heavy metal action adventure Brütal Legend, however, makes us wish it had.

The statue, which measures in at 17-inches tall, was scuplted by Mark Newman and painted by Tom Vukmanic, and looks like something that deserves shelf space cleared for. The bad news: there are just 1,000 of them knocking about. The good news: they may be very easy to win.

Hit the jump for information on how to win, a photo and, just for kicks, twenty-two minutes of Tim Schafer talking over gameplay footage for the game.

coral-sea

Xbox 360 players may have won the war in unlocking the extra Coral Sea map first in the brilliant Battlefield 1943, but it’s now time for those who reside in the PS3 camp to join the unlockable battlefield. This therefore means that, after a mere four days of defeat, Sony’s soldiers have managed to massacre themselves 43 million times.

Coral Sea is an all new Battlefield experience that features the Air Superiority mode, a new form of gameplay designed to cater for those who relish a good aerial dogfight. It’s certainly ideal for mastering your flying techniques, as the aircraft in the game can be particularly tricky to grasp. Air Superiority is also accessible through the main menu as a seperate entity, meaning you don’t have wait for it to appear in circulation during the game’s quick play mode. All I ask is why can’t they supply a traditional lobby system for the other matches?

Coral Sea should do well in further expanding this gripping game. With any luck, EA will be capitalising on Battlefield’s success by releasing some additional DLC in the near future.

zombies-2

Today Treyarch announced that it is working on a third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Due out August, the map pack will contain three new multiplayer maps, Battery, Revolution and Breach, as well as a new Nazi Zombie map called Der Riese, which translates to “The Giant”. Hopefully this means that there is some giant zombie or new type of undead or something. I’m getting sick of shooting the same slow ghouls game after game. Read more… »

“Finish Him!”.

Everybody knows the game, it was Midway’s signature videogame series. Sadly, the once proud studio is now dead, with Warner Bros Entertainment paying out $33 Million for the bankrupt Mortal Kombat developers.

Many of the younger amongst you may not realise just how sad this passing is. This isn’t a company that just gave us fatalities and Sub-Zero, for they have been about for over fifty years. Midway is, and always will be an important part of the history of videogames. They are intrinsically linked to the Golden Age of arcade gaming.
