Bungie utilized the sugar sweet tones of Nathan Fillion as a catalyst when developing their latest batch of fuel for the ODST hype machine. In the following ViDoc, he provides a breakdown of the characters, weapons, and mechanics of the highly anticipated standalone expansion to the ever-popular Halo 3. Hit the jump for the goods.

Though I’m not a particularly huge fan of the Halo series, I can’t help but be intrigued by this video. A step away from the linearity of previous iterations, along with a heavier focus on characters and storytelling could work wonders for the franchise.

It’ll be interesting to see how this all works out when ODST hits the shelves on September 22nd.

  1. Whoever wrote Nathan Fillion’s script has watched way to many episodes of Firefly. The whole time I watched this video I swore it was Captain Reynolds doing the voiceover. Not only did Fillion use the same tone and infelctions in his voice, the writing also had him using the same style of wording. The similarities are uncanny.

    Does anyone else agree?

  2. I most definitely agree.

    Someone else on the net said “close your eyes and listen to the video: you’ll think it’s the next episode of Firefly”. Try it!

  3. @Chris: Don’t get me wrong, I love it. What I would give for just one more episode of Firefly.

    Firefly > All TV series…

  5. If you’ve ever watched “Castle” you’ll find that it’s just Capt. Reynolds stuck inside a lame writer’s character.

    @Yay: You sir, are correct.

  6. and Alan Tudyk, and Adam Baldwin. Halo have brought back Firefly. I am pleased at this.
