Today Activision announced that Guitar Hero 5 will allow players to use their Xbox Live avatar as a playable character.

If the outfits Xbox Live provides for your avatar aren’t really your style, Guitar Hero 5 also packs a ‘Create A Rocker’ mode. Here you can deck out your avatar with stylish clothes and a variety of accessories.

If the whole avatar thing doesn’t appeal to you, classic characters like Judy Nails, Axel Steel and Lars Umlaut will be available.

Guitar Hero 5 arrives on September 1 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii. It will feature 85 songs from 83 artists. For the full track list click here.
