Ashes Cricket 2009

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Transmission’s upcoming Ashes Cricket 2009 in terms of whether it will be big enough to satisfy cricket fans. However, with the announcement that One Day Internationals, Twenty20s, and the entire Ashes series will be included, there is more to look forward to in this cricket title than any that have come before it.

A playable demo has just been released on Xbox Live, so hit the jump to check out some pretty swish in-game footage.

The demo has actually been available for download since last Friday, but the official statement was only made today. The teaser features Australia and England facing off at Lord’s for six overs. I’m sure that plenty of Australians will be more than glad to have the chance to rewrite that cricketing disaster that took place a couple of weeks ago.

Only Xbox Live Gold members can download the demo at the moment, but it will be open to Silver members this Thursday, just in time to coincide with the third Test at Edgbaston.

With any luck, Ashes Cricket 2009 will help us forget that awful piece of garbage that was Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2007. And hey, they’ve already got Shane Warne on board for commentary – that’s got to be worth the rental price, at least.

Ashes Cricket 2009 hits shelves on August 7, and will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, with a Wii version slated for release later in the year.
