Today publisher Sega announced that Obsidian’s stealthy action/RPG Alpha Protocol will hit North America on October 6.

Alpha Protocol, in development for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, puts gamers in the shoes of CIA agent Michael Thorton. When a mission goes awry, Thorton is double crossed by the U.S. government. Gamers must use Thorton’s training in stealth, hand-to-hand combat, and firearms to uncover the conspiracy.

While the plot sounds a little a played out, the actual game mechanics look to be a unique twist on the Splinter Cell formula. A large part of the game focuses on dialogue, giving players three attitudes to express. Each attitude will be iconic of a pop-culture spy; “professional” (Jason Bourne), “suave” (James Bond), and “aggressive” (Jack Bauer). Hopefully the RPG aspects of Alpha Protocol will make it a breakout hit.
