But, you wanna know the best bit? The Week In News: your weekly round-up of gaming news highlights here at GL. Hit the jump and let the tears of joy roll.
Obviously, the biggest piece of news this week has been the untimely death of Michael Jackson (R.I.P.). Now, without going into too many details, next week’s saddest news could involve Popcap removing the Thriller-esque zombie from Plants Vs. Zombies. While I can see the problem here, it is also worth pointing out the MJ created this character himself back in 1983 and TV stations don’t seem to have a problem in showing me that scarier version of him 24/7 since his passing.
Moving swiftly on, I’ll raise spirits here by reminding everybody that we will soon be enjoying the delights of another Hitman movie and game. While the latter half of that news sounds good, the promise of a “new direction for Agent 47″ in Hitman 5 can only stir up mental images similar to these Max Payne screens. Fingers crossed on all fronts, as well as for yet another video game movie, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which is said to also be in production.
If there was ever a no-brainer for a game-to-movie translation, it’d probably involve the trials and tribulations of Nathan Drake, wouldn’t it? Elsewhere, the man’s upcoming sequel seems to have been well-received at the game critics awards, taking “best in show” at E3. On the flip side, something that hasn’t been so well-receieved appears to be Sony’s PSPgo, which has got a few UK retailers’ knickers in a twist over how relevant its release is for consumers. Spoiler: they don’t think it’s worth the hassle.
Perhaps if the device was free, it’d be a roaring success, much like this Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce DLC – although my business sense tells me that giving away hardware isn’t always too plausible. Is it? What’s the worst that can happen? Well, EA jumping into bed with Dr. Pepper sounds rather calamitous, but that’s another story.
Motion control news now! Yay!!? While Microsoft admit to buying out 3DV Systems to help with Project Natal, a mouse/gun know as the Novint Falcon demonstrates how you can use gun recoil to send drinks flying from your desk. Doesn’t look to bad though, but not half as good as the “Game Gun”, which is a homemade piece of ingenuity – check out the videos.
It would be interesting top see what PEGI would make of it, although its methods have already been called into question, with general consensus being that they need to sort themselves out! They’ll need to make their symbols more visible and watch out for anybody teaching us how to make crystal meth in our bedrooms. Did Niko already do just that? maybe not, but perhaps GTA: Chinatown Wars on the PSPgo will rectify the situation so we can do it on the train.
You want to know what I’m bored of? Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, that’s what. Here’s a trailer and here’s some news that it’s been delayed *yaaaaawn*. What is exciting, mind you, is a map editor, so watch out for some stellar Dawn Of War II DLC.
And finally…
The Nintendo Wii looks darn sexy in these alternative colors, does it not?
