I don’t know if you guys remember, it was so long ago, Kojima Productions put up a website that teased the faces off anyone and everyone.  Now, following suit in what they think is a great idea, Square Enix has a countdown site…and they obviously are not against torture.  The site started with a landscape and a number 4, a dragon was added, and now there is a boy riding the dragon.  I don’t know about you guys, but this teaser site hype method is driving me insane.

The website, found here, has about 130 hours left which would put the reveal date on July 5th around 9:00pm central time.  However in Japan, the time would 11:00am on July 6th.  To my knowledge, there isn’t anything huge about that date so that information doesn’t tell us much.  But, this year is the 20th anniversary of the SaGa series, which started with Makai Toushi Saga, or better known as, Final Fantasy Legend.  Perhaps it is the fourth installment in the legend series?  That wouldn’t make sense though, because the legend series eventually adopted the SaGa title over time with titles like SaGa Frontier and Unlimited Saga.  Then again, sequel titles and numbers are arbitrary these days.

Here is a list of what we have so far from the site:

• The loading bar – I’m reaching here, since all loading bars look like this to me, but it resembles an ATB bar.  Yeah…I went there.

• The number four – This could mean the four warriors of light from the original Final Fantasy.  Frankly…a remake of that would be boring as hell.
• The Dragon – Well…he doesn’t really tell us much rather than cement the artistic style of the website.  Perhaps it’s a new IP that follows a hero and a dragon?
• The Boy – The boy doesn’t seem to have looks that make him stand out as a main character.  This could help the theory that it’s a new legend game because the characters were more about races and classes.
• The music – I can’t pinpoint where the music comes from, if it isn’t brand new, but what I do know is that it’s retro.  This may hint at a remake of an older title.

So, for now, this is all we know.  The title of the site is NEW GAME, and honestly, I hope it’s a brand new IP.  Square needs to keep pumping those out, because when they get the inclination to do so, we get titles like The World Ends With You and the upcoming Blood of Bahamut.
