XboxJapan2

When it comes to Japan, the Xbox has never been a major player.  Week in and week out both the Wii and the Playstation 3 easily outsell the Microsoft console.  It looks as if things are changing though as the Xbox 360 slowly creeps up in sales towards the Playstation 3.

Katamari 1

I am the King of the Cosmos and as heir to the universe I want you to jump from planet to planet rolling a ball around.  Your goal is to collect as much loot as possible because this will surely save everything.  And one last thing, don’t forget to play the most eargasmic songs ever created.

Sound ridiculous?  Well this ‘ridiculous’ game is an extremely popular franchise for reasons I’ll never understand. Read more… »

Making a rather bold statement to the Times UK, Activision leader-man Bobby Kotick hinted that the biggest publisher in the world may have to leave this hardware generation’s third-placer without a price cut. Said Kotick:

“I’m getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don’t make it easy for me to support the platform. It’s expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation…They have to cut the price, because if they don’t, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony.” Read more… »

punch-out-wii-500x274

The Punch-Out!! series has always seemed, at least to me, like Nintendo’s unloved son. Since its arrival, way back in 1987, there have only been three Punch-Out!! titles to date.

Despite not putting up Mega Man numbers, in terms of releases, Punch-Out!! has always had a special place in gamers’ hearts due to its basic mechanics and lovable characters: both of which make a fantastic comeback in the latest Punch-Out!! for the Wii. Read more… »

Following last week’s substantial offerings, this week’s update comes as a disappointment when compared to the European Store’s previous few weeks of glory. Other than the obligatory and over priced DLC for Rock Band and Guitar Hero, there are very few table scraps worth picking through.

A listing of this week’s shameful store update can be found after the break.

Following this year’s E3 event, many were left with mixed emotions about what was revealed at the show. One of the main disputes has been centering around the November release of Left 4 Dead 2, with fans of the first game lining up in their thousands to threaten a boycott of Valve’s sequel, believing the game to be too early in the cycle of the series.

Just as confusion is becoming the main driving force behind the debate, Mega64 have swooped in to unveil the logic AND “development tool” behind the sequel and what many dub to be “Sequelitis”, in general. Hit the jump for the 100% serious clip.

The anticipation for Heavy Rain seems to be chopping and changing as much as the weather. Just when things start to reach boiling point, Quantic Dream release a trailer that does nothing but look a little underwhelming when compared with the last. Now, according to the developer’s very own David Cage, we learn the game is far from done.
