Those hoping to live out an ambition to blow Hitler and/or ”Mecha Hitler” to smithereens – just like old times! – in Wolfenstein better be prepared for a slight letdown. Speaking with Destructoid, id Software community manager Peter Soka has revealed that the new game will not feature the enemy first brought to life, virtually, in Wolfenstein 3D.
“No, in this game there will be no Hitler,” Soka said. “We love ‘Mecha Hitler.’ Obviously, he’s one of the classic bad guys in videogames. It’s so famous in Wolf 3D when you finally killed him off, but this time around – like I said – it takes place after the events of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
“So, we wanted to expand on that story, make it a lot deeper story arc this time around. For the story we were trying to tell this time, it just didn’t really fit to have Hitler and Mecha Hitler in the game.”
I’m not sure how politically correct it would be to be torn to pieces by a gloriously rendered Hitler in 1080p, but that is another subject for another time. If you are saddened by this, take heart in the fact that you can pretend every enemy in the game is somehow related to him, once made him a cup of tea or helped create the original robot suit he wore.
On second thoughts, WTF, id Software? This is after he’s been killed, right? Ever heard of Zombie Hitler? Get with the times.

Um, i don’t like “it just didn’t really fit to have Hitler…in the game.” Thats ridiculous. I’m not pro-Hitler or last of the Hitler youth, but I AM one for being historically accurate. Of course if f**king fits! Its goddamn WWII and I want to put a bullet in his head.
And I was alluding to zombie Hitler there. If you can have Mecha Hitler….I think zombie Hitler is a little more believable.

Do games really need to be so serious in this day and age?
It would have been awesome if they virally put the message “Hitler returns…Fall 2009″ in the new XBLA/PSN Wolfenstein 3D they just re-released, and included him.
Being able to shoot Hitler would have made this a AAA title
True Clance, they don’t need to be serious. But who’s to say Hitler had to be made serious? They could have done absolutely anything with him.

Don’t pass this up just because of no Hitler killing. It still looks like its shaping up quite nicely.
They could of atleast make a clone of hitler.
