I like it, but I like the Sims 2 better. I liked being able to create entire communities of playable characters...I did TV town with the Sim versions of Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men, etc., and it was funny watching them interact. I don't like that I can only create and play one family at a time in Sims 3. Also, in Sim's 2 when the characters go to restaraunts, etc., you can go in with them and see the interior, but in Sims 3 you're left outside watching a timer bar showing when they'll be finished the task. Maybe that will change with expansions though.

Good review. A lot seem to regurgitate the same stuff.
I too seem to have the minimum spec. to play it (Vista Home Moron Edition) It does play though, with some drag loading locations, my favourite is the bicycle with square wheels effect!
I wish the game had been just the one persistant world town because I don't think I can create another Sim when my current Sim dies. She is a spinster of the parish with difficult traits. And I wouldn't want to continue with a pre-made family. Is there some way you can have babies talking with a plant or something. She is 10 at gardening with a green-thumb and a super green-thumb?

I know it seems like it could've been upgraded through a patch, but under the hood "The Sims 3" is actually running on an entirely new engine

hmm, I might have to pick this up. It sounds like a nice change from the traditional run and gun experience I've been playing lately. It sounds pretty innovating and time consuming. I like.

Great review that covered all aspects of the game. I agree that in reality it is not a giant step up from The Sims 2, it certainly isn't as big as the jump was from The Sims to The Sims 2. But this is still The Sims at heart, so it will sell tremendously well and no doubt restart the whole cycle once again - main game comes out, expansion follows 6 months later with a further 7 laid out for every 6 months after.
