As an avid fan of the Empire: Total War video game for the PC, I’ll be the first to acknowledge the fact the game is riddled with a ton of bugs and glitches. As a result, it has been dying for a much needed update.
Well look no further because today is the day one of my favorite RTS titles gets an update, and I’m not talking about Warcraft III. Creative Assembly will be releasing Patch 1.3 for Empire: Total War today. Some of the fixes will include:
“Prussian Grenadiers
Wearing a distinctive brass fronted mitre cap, the Prussian Grenadiers are an explosive force to be reckoned with on the battlefield…
Campaign:
- Several crash bug fixes in saves, movement, agents and logic.
- Various optimisations have been made to AI and path systems to reduce the campaign map turn times.
- When the pirates are destroyed and re-emerge they now maintain a status of at war with all and are unable to enter into diplomatic negotiations.
- Added small ships on domestic trade routes from the trade nodes to home regions moving in the correct direction, i.e. with the flow of trade.”
This is just a few changes to an onslaught of others. In an unrelated update to the game, Creative Assembly developers have released the Elite Units of the West for download. It will feature 14 new units that will add even more brilliance to the already highly regarded RTS title. The downside, the DLC will set you back a whopping $3.50 via Steam.

I honestly haven’t been following this game since I bought it. I’ve let it sit, installed, because I simply could not deal with the bugs. Have the naval invasions been fixed? That cripple the game for me, honestly. My Prussian armies were steamrolling Western Europe. Several of the nations I blazed through were allied with Great Britain. So here’s Great Britain, the most powerful country in the world in my game, and they have 5 or 7 stacks on their coastline, just moving around because they can’t come fight me.
