We all knew that it was going to be a smash hit, but I don’t think even Capcom realized the far-reaching effects that Resident Evil 5 would have on their bank accounts. As part of the Reuters Global Technology Summit in Tokyo last week Capcom’s chief financial officer Kazuhiko Abe gave an update on RE5 sales, saying that the survival-horror game sold 4.4 million units globally by the end of March.
Abe also said, “We are still enjoying strong demand, very strong demand, that is,” the executive said. “In the single month of April, sales came to as many as 570,000 units.”
If they can only add another 30,000 units in May, Resident Evil 5 will have hit the platinum milestone!
