Once a year there comes a time when you suddenly realize you are a little bit older, and a little bit wiser. As I reflect on the past year of my life I have come to realize that I’ve spent a lot of time playing video games, and have enjoyed every minute of it. There are a ton of good games coming out this week, so maybe with a bit of that birthday cash I’ll need to head on down to my local gaming emporium and place a preorder. I want Punch-Out!!, how ’bout you?
Difficulty in games has always been a reasonably contentious issue amongst gamers. Many would be quick to cry foul, exclaiming with much anger and remorse that games have become too easy, filtered and stripped to fit the time and attention spare mainstream gamer.
While others, probably more likely to be a little bit more balanced, would generally say that game difficulty has become less of an issue – as titles become more focused on multiplayer, and developers start to play around with multiple difficulty modes and scenarios.
But that leads to my question – How difficult should the average game be?
I’m certain that you’ve heard all about the rumors about the slim Playstation 3, but we all know that Sony is losing at least $40.00 per console that it sells. So the question is this: Will we find ourselves with a new model for the PS3? Will Sony announce the PSP Go!? Will Uncharted 2 be a megaton? Let’s theorize on all these questions and more!
Recently, I decided to take my dusty copy of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn for a spin. I know that a lot of you are gasping now, or perhaps scratching your heads, but its true. This is my first play-through of the fabled series. However, I am no stranger to Bioware’s fantastic D&D based video games.
I played both Icewind Dale 1 and 2, with the later being one of my favorite gaming experiences. What really turned me off from Baldur’s Gate when I first tried playing it nine years ago was that my computer at the time was too weak for a full install. So every time I left certain areas…I had to put a new disc into the drive. Yes, I am lazy.
Now that my computer has the cajones to handle the massive full install (which isn’t so massive anymore), because im still too lazy to change the discs, my journey into the forgotten realms is finally underway, and I thought I would share my experience so far with you. Read more… »

GoNintendo.com has just received a scan of the latest Nintendo Power, flaunting a North American release confirmation for the latest Capcom “vs” fighting game for the Wii, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The title features various anime characters, such as Ken the Eagle (pictured), from Gatchaman, battling all-new Capcom stars like Joe from Viewtiful Joe, and Batsu from Rival Schools.
Tatsunoko is a fan favorite amongst niche Capcom fans, who have already imported the game. The reason behind it’s delayed release is legal troubles with the licensing of certain Tatsunoko characters outside of Japan. Personally, I’ll be buying this in a heartbeat. Late last year, I had the pleasure to play the fantastic Persona 4. I still remember the days where I would stay up ‘til three in the morning playing this game nonstop, telling myself “just one more day.” I was so hooked into this game that I put games like Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2 on hold.
There were a couple aspects that made Persona 4 memorable; it wasn’t the narrative or the battle system. While those things were great, a few of the aspects that made it memorable are often neglected nowadays because we tend to focus more on realistic graphics, multiplayer or achievements.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy, the ultimate nerdgasm fighting game is coming west-side soon enough and to top off the awesomeness of the game, Square have decided to make the box-art reversible. Unfortunately both sides are equally awesome so it’s difficult to choose! Read more… »
