Gas Powered Games holds a special place in my heart. After revolutionizing the RTS arena with Supreme Commander, it was difficult to play any other RTS that didn’t allow me to zoom out so far I could see my name in turrets. So I was pretty excited to hear about DemiGod, a DOTA styled RTS that not only allowed me to zoom in classic GPG style, but control ridiculously powerful beings and dominate my opponents in a tournament style setting.
But what I’m sure a lot of you Ancients devotees are wondering: is it the killer app you have been waiting for? I guess you’ll have to follow myself, and Colin, as we took on this multiplayer only epic to see if it could take down a DemiGod of its own.
The games that we play are littered with various characters that can and will beat the living hell out of any alien, zombie, Nazi or parked motorcar. Admittedly, most of these guys could drink me under the table with relative ease – if they were real and, more to the point, paying. But there are definitely a few out there that I can’t help but look at and wonder just how much a couple of whiskeys would go to their head. Yes, I actually think about these things, don’t you? The Battlefield franchise has a lot of hardened fans, and the life of the series has transfered well onto the consoles. The “hardcore” in that group would say you couldn’t play it right without a mouse and keyboard, and they could be right. With Battlefield 1943 coming, and the esstablished populary of Bad Company, the rumor that Battlefield Heroes is headed to Xbox Live Arcade, and the Playstation Network is not at all surprising.
For many years I’ve been an appreciator of video game music.
