Oh Guitar Hero, you and your crazy sequel’s and band specials – when will it ever end? Activision has just released to USA Today some juicy details on the upcoming Guitar Hero Encore, which is bringing some cool new features that seem to be aimed toward the people who have the most fun with the Guitar Hero games: the party crowd.

Guitar Hero Encore is the worst case scenario that we all thought of when Guitar Hero first started to get to its feet: ”what if they released all the good songs again on another disk and made us pay full price!?” Turns out we weren’t so crazy. However, the recent interview with Brian Bright (project director) shows that Activision isn’t the devil in disguise… at least not yet.

New Songs;

Tom Petty (Runnin Down a Dream)

White Stripes (Blue Orchid).

The Rolling Stones (Sympathy for the Devil)

Bob Dylan (All Along The Watchtower)

Santana (No One To Depend On)

Vampire Weekend (A-Punk)

Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire) and

Kings of Leon (Sex on Fire)

New Modes:

Feast mode - lets up to 4 players (8 online) players play against each other during a song. Once a player misses a note they loose ‘monentum’ and must hit 20 notes in row to get it back.

Party Play mode - a play list of songs plays continuously allowing players to jump in and out, switch instruments and change difficulties all mid song.

”This is a perfect mode for parties. You can load up playlists with your favorite songs and just let that run and people can jump in when they want and the music never stops.”

With these new changes and modes its apparent that Activision is still trying to keep Guitar Hero fresh while at the same time lead this cash cow along its ever winding road of plastic instruments and meadows of coloured notes.
